Hi everyone,
I am considering buying a JEDi ABALEST cricket bat (http://www.jedisports.co.uk/abalest-range-15-c.asp). I am in the US and unfortunately do not have the luxury of buying personally from individual bat makers. I was wondering if anyone has tried any of their bats and would like to share any feedback.

Hi

I recently were to Romida, a cricket shop near me who stocks them. I found four similar bats, all good looking with nice pick up and balance. Decent size as well as all four were between 2:7 and 2:9.

Two were pressed to have very good rebound with the bat mallet and two were a bit harder, not necessarily any worse, just harder.

I was glad I had the option of looking at multiple ones as I would have been a little disappointed with the response of the harder pressed ones initially.

I have used this one and been very impressed by it.

I have been to James workshop he is of the ACE Alfred Evans stable he is a nice bloke and makes a very nice bat

I did do a search before I made the post but I used the search bar on the right hand top corner which I didn't know only searched the particular category I was in at that point. The search tab however returned some helpful results. Thanks for the tip.

Were these all in the Utlimate grade? He did mention to me that his bats below the Ultimate grade tend to differ in performance from the ultimate and higher grades. Is it a concaved profile? Is the pick up lighter than actual weight?

Thanks Dave. I did come across a pic of the LE bat in your 2015 kit post. Would you say the LE would perform the best?

Would you mind sharing some more details? Did the bats break or were they just not performing well?

They were all Ultimates. Not saying that performance would be different in use, just a couple of them seemed to stand out more when I went with a mallet pre-purchase.

It is concaved, but at 2:8 you would expect that these days.

The pick up is like there is hardly a bat there in your hands at all. It's very well balanced.

I had about 7 bats off him, two for me, two for my son, rest for mates
Out of those 7, two were nice bats for the money, but didn't last long, (mine about 400 runs) and a friends,(which was a lovely bat), broke against a cheap ball.

I've had a lot worse bats, especially for what James charges.
But, they are a long way off from what someone like Paul Aldred can make for you or any other of the forum sponsors for similar money

Keep looking at posts on the forum, there are some stunning bats about

Went to see James yesterday, what a top bloke he is.
Walked me through the whole bat making process and some of the modernisations (investments) he's made to his facilities.

He's offered to make me 2 zaramax bats, but with extendendemspines and a dropped square toe.
The grains I saw on some of the LE bats were amongst the best I've ever seen, tight, straight and uncountable on two hands.

What got me, apart from his amazing customer service and enthusiasm was the ridiculously light pick up and balance of his bats, at one point I was holding a 2:14 and it felt no more than 2:7.

Top man top outfit.cant wait to see them made up in the flesh.

GRADES BELOW THE BEST NOT PLAYING ASWELL!!

Talk to the bat makers on here, every last one of them will be able to make you a bat in any grade willow to your specs that performs, not just top end, you don't necessarily need to pay too buck for an amazing ping...
