2-5 is just too light...

2'5 was the normal weight of a bat before the 1980's/1990's!
I bet the old timers would have loved a 2'5 with a generous profile.

I picked an old sunny tonny from eBay. Its 2-4 thin bat but very good punch. Will post pics today

@The Palmist => Sorry for the delay in response. Bat came fully knocked with a protective scuff sheet. I took it straight away for practice and found it to be very comfortable to play. I removed the Kook grip, replaced it with half grip for bottom hand and a full grip for the entire handle. It gives me a thicker bottom hand and thinner top hand feel. This particular bat is too light for me to use in a match. However i use this frequently in my practice and i managed to secure an Instinct 800 bat from a friend, this one weighs around 2lb8.5oz. The weight was more to my liking and Instinct 800 has become my match bat. I share the Instinct 500 bat with a couple of tail-enders who generally prefer to just touch the ball and run quickly. Overall, i am happy with the purchase ...

I opened all Summer with a 2-5 really appreciated the extra bat speed against the new ball.
That said I am not a boundary blaster.

How so?
If that is your usual weight then it would be very realistic to use in a match situation.

Also I think a bat like that would be perfect for someone who's just moved up from a harrow.
All the extra width and length without the added weight.

Sweeping statements may be true for some people, but not everyone...

Different weights work for different people, i did feel all along that a 2'5 may perhaps be too light for most people, and it did sit on our shelf for a long time.

That being said, it was hard to ignore such a full profiled bat at such a light weight when we handpicked from Kook.

You can achieve bat speed with a shorter blade- longer handle configuration too. I open as well and have tried different styles and shapes. A 2-8/2-9 Rhino by MG2 is a pure joy but nothing beats the ooomph of a heavy bat for me. 😀

I used to use size-6 customs made by MG2 ( one of the best but under rated bat makers out there) and they weighed more. More power and boundaries too. 😀 2-5 in a full size SH bat just won't have enough momentum.

PS: For a short batsman like myself, 5-6" , size 6 is a perfect size bat. As I grew stronger, I moved up to bigger (a full SH bat which I still hold where I held my size-6 bat) and heavier bats. From, time to time, I take my old bats to nets and they are a lot of fun .
