Oakley Prizm - which ones are best???
« on: July 20, 2015, 11:00:28 AM »

Hi Gents,

Has anyone used the new Oakley Prizm glasses.

Thinking of investing in some new lenses in either the baseball infield/outfield or the golf lenses.

let me know your thoughts -I know the VR28 are also good but these are new tech and we do enjoy new tech ;-)

thanks

Matt

Prizms are great, I tried on the golf and baseball version and there is a little bit of a difference between the two. Ended up with the Golf Prizm Flak Jacket 2.0, hence the other oakleys in for sale section. You'll like them but do try them on before you buy

so after some time spent in the states I finally purchased the "baseball infield" lenses for my oakley sunglasses

These lenses are SUPBERB!! it's like watching High Definition for the first time. The greens pop, the ball is much clearer and everything stands out like it been given a brighter shade!!

My one observations is that they are only effective on sunny days. when the sun goes in and there is less direct sunlight the effectiveness is significantly reduced. I've used them through games that go from 12-8pm. Once the sun light is goes blocked then everything becomes a little too dark. still who needs sunglasses when it isn't sunny?? ;-)

I guess my next questions is -> which lenses are good in dark conditions?? that's my next investigation

to summarise On a sunny day these are exceptional and really to aid your vision.

Depends what you mean by dark really. 'Cloudy dark' or 'low light dark' (end of season late in the game dark!). Personally I like the aforementioned VR28 on a cloudy day, but if its just getting dark and the end of the day, the High Intensity Yellow (if they still do them) are brilliant

I know this is an old thread, but game across it via a google search.

I see that Oakley have now released a 'Cricket' specific Prizm lens.

Anyone tried these?

I haven't worn sunglasses playing cricket for years, but really had a problem with my contact lenses drying out this year due to wind.
Got some ok results at the end of the season in some cheaper ones, wondering if the move to Oakley is worth the investment.

I used Baseball Prizm lenses for white ball cricket. In general, these glasses are very good although I lost the new ball twice last season while batting.

I use the cricket prizm lenses. I really like them, they're a rose Lense so your eyes take a minute to adjust but once they do they are very good. Ball stands out well against grass and dirt.

@Cricketer123 - Do they require a beautiful sunny day or have you tried them on a gloomy day?

I play in Aus and we've only had sunny weather since I've got them, so it's hard to say really. I would hazard a guess and say that they are really only good for bright days. Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

I've used these lenses along with loads of other types of sport lenses including the American Baseball lenses (when I go to the US every two years I tend to by some new frames and a set of lenses) and they are very good (I've found all Oakley lenses to be very good). I would consider what type of ball you use most for example I use a mix of red and orange balls so I tend to stick to the red enhancing lenses but these work just as well on the occasions when I've used a white or pink ball as well. I would recommend going to an Oakley store if you can and speak to a member of staff about the requirements you need and they will sort it out thats how I bought my first lenses 8 years ago.

i bought these before the start of last season, and it's a tough one to answer as it's also down to the ball colour and also the colour of the grass your playing on. I preferred to wear my radar polarised sunglasses when the sun was out, and when the sun was in, stick the cricket lenses on, but if possible try them on b4 buying.

How do these cricket Prizm lenses hold up for a white ball [edit] against green grass [edit]?
