Ben Holliaoke.  Was there ever a more exciting international debut than his?  I'd never even seen him play before and there he against Aus effortlessly dispatching Mcgrath & Warne to all parts.  Was probably unfulfilled even before his untimely demise. A little reminder...

He had his citizenship fast tracked and was dubbed the saviour of spin in Australia, yet is still waiting to make his Test debut.

Does this include players who forced their way in through weight of runs, but the selectors didn't really fancy them?

Brad Hodge falls in this category: 1 double century, 2 half centuries and a test average of 56. Dropped after 6 tests.

great batsman.

loss of a 3 year old daughter changed the man completely.

Never played test cricket after that Test where he got the horrible news (was 2000/2001 from memory) and turned to religion big time.

Hick
Ramprakash
Chris Lewis
Vaughan - what happened after THAT golden year?
Shane Watson

The list goes on...how about Lara?  Many top WI fans reckon he should've been averaging well over 70.  Harsh, but maybe they have a point?

Jacques Rudolph - 222 on test match debut... Played a few games but never went on the concour the world

Billy Godleman - given a contract at Middlesex at 15 but jumped from county to county. Really pleased to see him getting a solid go at Derby now

Mohammad Ashraful - 100 early in his test match career against India and never showed anything of note after

Xavier Marshall of the West Indies - test match debut at 19... What happened to him?!? Not played a first class game since 2003

Just a few I have played with / against over the years who haven't really kicked on (I play in the Liverpool Comp BTW)

Mohammed Zaid (once fastest bowler in the world) now playing club cricket on Merseyside.
Vishal Tripathi: exceptional talent, spent a year or so at Northants, never really kicked on
Jayden Levitt: Another talented player who hasn't kicked on.
John Jackson: technically gifted, never kicked on, now playing club cricket.
Jack Kelliher: Probably one of the most naturally gifted batsmen you will see, somehow disappeared off the face of the earth.
Chris Tipper: Exceptional, nailed on pro, following a car accident now playing club cricket.

Digressing from the amateur game, some county pro's that IMO haven't fulfilled their potential:

Hick, Ramprakash, Chappel, Foster, Read, Karl Brown, Paul Horton.
