@Buzz in your pic the trees are from a plantation where they are well maintained and young enough to not grow a bark. Any chance you have something of a older tree and leaves maybe?

Looks like Salix Fragilis, often referred to as Crack Willow. Very common along river banks in UK. Denser than Salix Alba xxx with darker 'redder' wood. But can be made into bats. I have done so some years ago as an experiment.

Thanks @Bambooman , of if one kind grows here then is there a chance the other one (Salix Alba C.) does too?

Certainly the conditions to grow both are very similar if not the same.

Where are you, not the UK obviously. I would very surprised if SAC was growing wild anywhere. It's very much a cultivated crop. I have some cuttings growing on my kitchen window at the moment but is proving difficult to grow.

Canada it is indeed, east coast in Nova Scotia. This came out of a dinner I had with one of my Girlfriend's old bosses a few months ago. Guy is retired and knows nothing about cricket but we got talking about hobbies/passions and then the conversation got to bats :). He sent me these pics today so thought I would ask. Lots of trees here and lots of places to grow them :)

Crack willow theres one growing on parkland behind my garden fence the council have to regularly keep cutting off the branches as it grows over the paths theres branches everywhere  willow needs an high water table to flourish but this ones  nowhere near water.
I think it grows rapidly due to the land being a disused clay mine as clay is water retentive.

@tushar sehgal ,Why don't you see if you can get some saplings from JS Wrights. They may not be so keen as it is outside the UK but you can always ask.
