Some cricket bat nostalgia!
« on: August 13, 2015, 10:31:41 AM »

A customer came in with this bat a few days ago and it really made me smile. It's one of the classic bats from Gray-Nicolls, but I just can't remember when it was part of their range. If anyone can shed some light on this, it would  be great.

Secondly, it would be interesting to hear what sort of weight you think the bat is?

Wasn't this a late 90's - early 2000's model?

And the weight, I'm guessing it's about 2lb10.5

On the toe will be a letter that will say who made it and the shoulder will have another letter to give the year.
Call/tweet GN and they will fill in the details.
Lovely bat.
2lbs 7/8?

I don't know what age that is, but I do know I'm making myself a 'Legendary Power' sticker for the back of my bat! :)

I'll send some photos over to Grays and see what dates they give me...and as for the weight, nobody is even remotely close, so lets have some more estimates.

I had (possibly still have) a more budget version of that model, I'd guess it was about from around from about 99ish and on the go for 3-4 seasons. Mines was tiny for the weight so I'd guess that one is around the 3lb mark.

surely that Logic would be likely to make it heavy!

Nobody correct with the exact weight yet, although very very close.

I forgot to add, it pinged like a dream...beautiful middle.

what I meant was back then I think most of the bats were quite light. Goochie then came along with some 3lb monster (triple ton against India) but I don't think heavy bats were common.

At least this thread shows how much bats have changed.  :)
