Something a little different...
« on: August 14, 2015, 03:06:27 PM »

We took this shell back in part exchange recently and got to work rubbing it down ready to get it sprayed back to a solid colour.

However during rubbing it down it revealed the different layers that its gone through over the seasons and I quite liked the fact it gave the rough and ready look with some exposed carbon fibre to boot.

As such I have clear coated it in matte lacquer so the finish remains as it is currently.

Ive already got a RawTek helmet that i've been using but did intend to get this into my kit bag. However with a mini me due soon i've already got too much stuff lying around the home office to justify so long story short its up for grabs!

Its a carbon fibre/kevlar shell with titanium grille and will come with a new A.C.I.S liner (once fresh stock reaches us next week!).

Im not sure what price to put on this as its a true 1 off due to the unique layers of the paint etc so wondered what CBF members thought?

The sledging would be unbearable, surely? I get enough abuse for wearing a sky blue Masuri.

Looks very 'Urban Camo'  ;)

To curb any sledging it just needs a small sticker on the back with the words: 'I've faced quicker.'   ;)

Looks a lot like the helmet I received from Adidas a few weeks ago...

Only joking I think it looks good, although I am a sucker for carbon fibre  :)

I think it is an acquired taste.

Some people will love it. It isn't for me though

Have put this on eBay, lad at our club wanted it but then decided he preferred the Carbon Fibre weave of the stock model so went for that instead.

Agreed, something a little bit different to the norm that might appeal to someone, if not then we can always coat it in a solid colour.

No design, prob me watching too many Gas Monkey Garage episodes where they end up clear coating a patina on a car as they like the "aged" look of it rather than spraying it so it looks brand new again.

Like the look of it! The worn look but I already have an Ayrtek, an Affiniti Ayrtek AND a normal 'old school' helmet already.
But good luck on bidding guys. It will be unique :-)
