Strictly speaking it is not a legal Type A bat if it has anything other than twine to bind the handle. GN should know better. However, as there is no enforcement of Law 6 what can you do?

The tape could be classed as a grip not a binding

Maybe so, but to the letter of the Law it is illegal, claiming it is part of the grip doesn't work if you have a rubber grip over the top. Not saying I agree with the laws as they stand just interpreting them.

Doesn't say you can't have more than one grip though.

(c) Providing 7 below is not contravened, the upper portion may be covered with materials solely to provide a surface suitable for gripping. Such covering is an addition and is not part of the bat. Note, however, 8 below.

The stamp on the shoulder could be the batmaker the binding could be under the tape.

It is made by Stuart Kranzbuhler. Does he stamp all his bats?

My Warner Legend bat has the same handle: no twine, just tape around it. I asked the guys at GCCC and they said it was to save weight...??

It is a Warner Kaboom replica. There are other little things I have highlighted in other pics - "A", next to signature; "S", on the shoulder?

"...solely to provide a surface suitable for gripping."
This refers to the interface between the batsman's hand and the handle. A rubber grip over the top of the cloth contravenes it.

I contacted Muelman in Perth nearly a month ago and spoke with "Bob". I asked him about the Warner replica that was available on the site and he told me that they were all sold out and they were expecting a new shipment from Gray Nicolls in about couple of weeks. I expressed my interest  and told him that I'd be happy to pay for one now so that he can set one aside for me.  He was kind enough to agree to do that for me although he suggested that I pay with the bats are there. Unfortunately, the bats were delayed and I kept ringing them every few days to check if they had arrived.

Some few interesting facts about these cricket bats...

-  The bat is almost an inch shorter than your regular Shorthandle bat. Handle and blade, both, are shorter than a regular SH bat. It feels like my T-20 size 6 custom bat.
-  The bat has a big bow.  When I spoke with Bob, I asked if I could get a bat with a big bow. He said that they did not have any bow on them. I was a little surprised to hear that because the way Warner plays, he is bound to have a big bow in his bat. I was pleasantly surprised when I receive the back  that it indeed had a big bow.  I wasted so much money working with custom bat makers to make me a back with a "big bow" and then to receive a bad with no bow. Very disappointed. I should've just bought a Gray Nicolls.
- The bat picks up 2-9 /2-10, feels a tad bottom heavy since the handle is wafer thin and light, no counter weight. I bet, the dis balance results in high bat speed.

Holy cow!!! Is that a bat? I guess , when you arent in mood to bat with proper technique, you can still turn around your bat and use the bat's edges to hit long sixes.... I feel for the bowlers!
