@Number4, it's both. Bowlers shouldn't be bowling no balls. Full stop. If they do, every one should be picked up by an umpire and called. Both are at fault. Every ninety mph ball bowled off a shorter distance affects the batsman's ability to judge length and pace.

I liked the TMS suggestion during the Trent bridge test. Move the square leg umpire up square of the bowling wicket to call no balls there, if the on strike umpire really isn't going to call.

Two club cricketers Wood and Ali have slogged a 50 run partnership. Neither have any real long term Test futures as both are crap.

That said Wood has just pooed himself against Johnson and is out.

Well quite a few ex test players reckon they will have  long  test careers they are young in test match terms and still learning.

There was an interesting discussion on this point too. The umpires that Agnew had spoken to stated the following:

The umpires stand further back to give them more time to take evasive action from a straight drive.

As a result of standing back, they have a less clear view of the front line (see Steven Finn comment).

They don't want to be seen to be making mistakes which the video will show, so where it's marginal, they aren't calling. Now that shouldn't stop them doing it on really obvious big ones or warning the bowler if they think he is close.

All in all, what it comes down to is the umpires are afraid of video review on front foot no balls, which is unacceptable.

Considering that they are playing in a dominant bowling side with Jimmy and Broady taking big hauls, Wood and Moeen have done well.

It is much harder to get wickets bowling 2nd change/3rd change when your opening bowlers are getting 4-5 in their first spells!

Maybe if Australia could bat longer than 18.3 overs then Wood and Moeen might have got more of a chance...

Don't worry you might've lucked out on your doctored green tops but when you come to Australia Patto/Cummo/Starco will rip you a new one.

How is it ever the bowlers fault that they bowl no balls. They don't know they're no balls until called. Umpires have the sole responsibility to call a legit delivery.
