We have something called sun in Australia. Makes nice fast pitches.

Better take back your 'doctored' pitches comment then because by your own justification the sun makes the difference. Therefore because England has less sun, the pitches will not be fast. This pitches are the fault of the geographical location.

As Lehmann said:

"Full credit to England - they won the key moments in this series, they outplayed us. We had four of the five top wicket-takers and three of the four top run-scorers, but we didn't win the key moments. It was an unbelievable series."

If you don't win with those stats then you've been outplayed. Simple.

I dare say that in the UAE we will struggle in as it's totally different. Still, just goes to show that in the majority of test series played now, home advantage is what makes the difference, whether that is pitch, crowd or both.

Agree Tim,home advantage is big these days.we do indeed go to the uae as second favourities, well beaten last time and we will need to play very very well to get a draw.
We have however bizzare the games were, got the ashes back and means a huge amount.no one really thought we could although some predicted a close series if the wickets did a bit.
Have to say i think the aussies shot themselves in the foot with team selections.
For that they only have themselves to blame.
Had some of their batsmen taken a leaf out of rodgers book they would still have the urn as they have firepower in the bowling and a better spinner than us
Thats how i saw the series

Please remove the "Kiwi Mother" part from your name. You are a disgrace to all NZers.

Full credit to England. Not a good series, but you were by far the better team. Id like to think the Black Caps played their part to getting you guys in form  ;) ;)

Well done England. Now I'm looking forward to the fresh, new team to be announced, hopefully we look to the future and get some youngsters. I will say one thing though, I think root is a class player but needs to prove himself internationaly. All the great players have. The majority of the pitches around are not green top featherbeds.

Id say that the half Kiwi you have saves you from being a complete oxygen thief.

Now that's a big call. I don't miss him and neither will I miss this chap when he goes too far. He has started with the name calling so I can't imagine it will take too long. The admins on here never tend to miss a trick.

Well done England on another Ashes victory at home. That is four in a row now I think ?

Overall it was not the greatest but still pretty enjoyable series to watch. We got 5 tests with a result and no draws/wash outs.It would have been nice for it to be 2-2 and the 5th to decide but it didn't occur.

In hindsight, Australia made some errors in selection and mentality. Not learning the conditions with bat and ball and trying to use tactics suited to Australian conditions. Very suspect middle order.

England probably have similar problems with their middle order. Bell seems to have lost all confidence in his batting ( which is a shame  because he is so easy on the eye when in form). Stokes only had an average series with the bat and that crucial 5th or 6th batting spot can't be filled. Also, a stable opening partner for Cook would be nice.

Although probably not the best player for the series, but I think England won with Broad's 8 wicket innings. The three previous tests were won by the team  batting first ( I think) and something incredibly good was needed to change that. 8/15 or whatever it was will do.

England would be wise to keep this series in the back of their minds when picking/training for the next Ashes in Australia. Pick bowlers and batsman for the conditions.

Sad that the Ashes is over, but thankful I can get my sleeping patten back to normal now.

"Bowlers win you matches. Batsmen decide by how much".

Broad has done it again.

2009 - the match winning spell at The Oval.
2013 - 11 wicket haul at the Riverside ground.
2015 - 8/15 at Trent Bridge

That is three crucial times he has got it right when most needed.

Not to mention the Broad and Ali batting partnerships - an undervalued part of England's success. Not bad for someone derided for backing away to square leg and someone who apparently couldn't play the short ball.

Without a doubt England  against the Black Caps played attacking cricket equally matched by an excellent NZ team playing cricket in the right Sprite led by Mccullum who for me is the best Captain in world cricket. Also an opportunity was missed as NZ should have be given more than two tests.

Broad is still bad at batting but not as bad as he was. Mo is still terrible vs the short ball! Did you not see him get badged several times a game ??? (I think he had one game when it was a featherbed when he was able to hit with impunity but anything with life in and he was screwed, good luck mo in Sa and Aus. Take a few new helmets fella). He's not good enough for test cricket (as a batsmen), and isn't a good spinner so yes, he's a cracking 8/9 but it does t mean he's any good! And certainly is taking up an actual spinners spot
