What bat next?
« on: August 20, 2015, 05:13:31 PM »

I have a budget of about £300 but honestly will stretch to about £400. I'm looking for a bat that is about 2.8/2.9 and I'm mainly looking for performance from my next bat. What's the best bat you've used, and what would you recommend for a fairly light bat with good performance.
Side topic: what's the nicest bat you've ever used, whether it was yours or a friends.

There are some very nice top end bats around. I've got some very nice Affinitys, H4L Pro's & M&H's. But you don't have to spend that much unless you really want to splash out! I've also got a couple of Red Inks that are excellent value for money.

I've heard that new balance are going to be huge next season.
At least 4 ranges I believe

I would get one made to your exact specs.
My best is a Supreme 2.8 from Paul Aldred but I'm sure many of the forum sponsors can provide what you need.
Aldo's top grade is easily within your budget and I think he makes great sticks and provides an excellent service.
The bats I've had from him are as good as any others I've used.

I've noticed Aldred bats seem to have a high middle though.

Speak to Salix or H4L for custom, had lots of there bats and performance wise there top top bats and you will get a stunner for your budget.
Or speak to the others mentioned and again you will get a good stick but in my opinion performance wise those two take some beating hardly of ever have a heard a bad review and never have I used a bad bat from those two bat makers.

They're made to order, the middle goes pretty much where you ask! Mine isn't high middled. There's different ranges too, at least one of his shapes is a noticeably low profile...

I've had my eyes on Salix, H4L and Aldred recently. So strange they'd come up. Always wanted a Salix to be honest. Don't know what to do.

The description of the Supreme on his website: "... a big hitting area and that can be placed easily in the location that suits you ..."; have a chat with him - he'll make pretty much what you want (within reason) or advise as to how he could try to match your requirements.

Think I'd go down to the workshop too, full experience would be fun.

I have a Salix Praestantia, Aldred Supreme and 2 H4L's. All are excellent. However, I have noticed that the newer Salix have quite a large bow, something you may/may not like. All of these makers do excellent bats. My Aldred weighs 2.12 but picks up much lighter. It does have a highish middle though and a thick handle. The h4L's go very well.
You won't go too far wrong with any of them

Can also chuck B3 into the equation. Their low density clefts are amazing.
