Purchasing a butterfly bat
« on: August 22, 2015, 10:38:07 PM »

Basically, for next season I've decided to order a bat which I will use for nets mainly & possibly a few Sunday games. Never done this before as I'm still pretty young as a cricketer. However, I still want to be reasonable and as I'm not going to be using this bat on a Saturday  therefore I don't want to spend loads.I'd probably have a decent budget of around 130-160..so I was wondering what your opinions are on good butterfly bats. I've made myself a shortlist based on posts on this forum that b3,Aldred and red ink are all great options and I think are within my budget.
If there are any other bat makers that I should consider please let me know and would love people's opinions on the 3 I named above.
Thanks & sorry for the long message :)

Any of those. They have all got good reviews. There is something good about scoring runs with a 'non' branded bat. Saw a right plank of a dynadrive today, saw a great 'older' bat, the maker I did'nt recognise.

Harry take a look at Red ink as John as non butterfly bats in your price range he may also be able to make you a bat to your own spec for the money you wish to spend.

I have the occasional butterfly cleft but don't market them as an individual grade.

More than happy to make something to specs, an x2 or 3 would fit into budget with the sale at the moment with a bit to spare

Could even do an x3 and a middling bat inline with you budget

So you would suggest buying a grade 2 bat ahead of a butterfly??

This is what I've been adviced by the man in Warsop and he is very experienced so I think he would know what he's talking about[emoji51]

Maybe you're more likely to break a bat if you slog due to miss hits so buying a cheaper grade is better? Other than that I have no idea what difference the grade makes to the type of player you are. Shape wise yes, grade I am not so sure

I have no idea why that advice may have been given other than the cost of a replacement?
