Alastair Cook's GN gloves
« on: August 23, 2015, 09:03:52 PM »

Did anyone notice that Cook was wearing the cheaper Prestige gloves rather than the top of line Legend range during the 5th Test at the Oval?  Interesting he would wear these gloves but I guess the sausage fingered gloves offer better protection.

Same as the oblivion ones he used to wear when he used that range must feel more comfy with them, same as the reason he switched back to the old style helmet

So I guess it shows that the cheaper range can afford as much protection as the top of range gear.  And you wouldn't want to test against the likes of Mitchell Johnson!

He has always preferred sausage finger gloves. Prestige also boast Test quality protection so I guess this is further evidence to suggest that. I believe Jonny Bairstow has been wearing Prestige all year too

Some times I think that the pros are made to wear the lesser gloves (in looks) from a selling pitch point of view.... They are probably specially made offering higher protection than off the shelf ones

I'd be very surprised if this wasn't the case - they wouldn't risk sending him in without the top spec they can make surely

Seem to recall seeing an interview with Nick Compton saying he prefers the lower grade of glove as they offer greater flexibility than some of the bulky top of the range ones.  Probably the same for quite a lot of pros.

I like the sausage finger type but they just always feel stiffer.  I wonder if the Prestige are pre curled?
