Mark Butcher
« on: August 27, 2015, 01:10:54 PM »

Listening to him and Nick Knight talking about Lyth at the moment. Is there a better more insightful commentator around at the moment?

If I was BT Sport he would be top of my list of new recruits!

Mark Butcher is brilliant.

The fact that he totally reconstructed and rebuilt his technique to be able to perform in international cricket means that he knows a little of what Lyth needs to do - and Ballance and Robson - to return to international cicket

Butch was saying that Lyth has struggled with the pace at test level and hasn't been able to get across and out of the crease to cover the out swing and has got caught in front.

Nick Knight also making some good points about how they are setting themselves up to deal with the lack of pace from masters. Some decent knowledgeable commentary at the moment on the Essex v York's game.

He is in total contrast to Nick Knight, who is awful. It's like he has a set amount of phrases he's allowed to use and sticks only to those ones.

Butch has plenty of good things to say actually, and I like his laid-back style. Somehow feel he would be spoilt if he were on Sky all the time, so maybe a different channel would suit him.

Nick Knight lacks a bit of charisma but I think he gets an unfair rap. Not as easy to listen to as Butcher but in between he makes some good points.

Butch was always one of my favourite players when I was growing up. I've really enjoyed his stints and insight when he is on TV. Think @FattusCattus is right in saying he would get a better shot on another network such as BT or C5 highlights.

Nick knight is a real nice bloke as well, his children play at our club, and always has time to chat to people and offer advice.

Nick Knight- I turn it off if he is on.

Butch is brilliant and is always interesting-he was a very good player too and comes across very well.

talking about Lyth, and I know i'm in a minority here, but KP on twitter this week showed just why he is hated by SOME of us fans. No respect whatsoever was shown to Lyth and he was basically made fun of in a public arena(yes I know KP can write what he likes it's his account-it's also seen in the public).

sticking the boot in while Lyth is down just sums up this bloke, as if he's not embarrassed enough about his career this far.

To Lyth's absolute credit, he makes no excuses, thanks the selectors for sticking with him and promises to come back a better player.....

Now Cork and Fraser :-(, jury is out on Cork in my opinion.

Nick Knight does seem like a nice enough bloke, just hate his indecisiveness, it's always 'errrrrrrr' or 'i think' or saying 'oh is that going to be out, errrrrr, yes it is'

Still, anything is better than Andrew Strauss was!

Yeah Cork is a bit hit and miss. A bit too quick to criticise bowlers. I know criticism is part of his job spec but I hear him more often than not putting down a players performance. But thats just my opinion.

I'm suprised KP had time to write about anyone or anything else.

Too busy playing golf with a bunch of morons (John Terry for one) and boosting his ego.

The one thing that gives me some peace is knowing that KP will go down as a nobody in years to come and will be a forgotten name. Well that's if KP allows it.
