Online stockist reliability
« on: August 30, 2015, 12:24:13 PM »

Whilst browsing online I stumbled across this website which seems to sell all sorts of blank and branded kit. Was wondering if anyone has used them and if so are they reliable?
Here is the link to the website www.onlinestockist.com

Used to buy blank pads and gloves about 5 times (big ish orders), everything arrived as stated etc. delivery is a bit slow but 19 quid vs 50+ difference... I think a week extra waiting is worth it

Some good feedback, some bad feedback regarding OLS on the forum here. Plenty of threads to read through. OLS is sure getting a bit of press on here of late.

I have ordered few bats from them in the past.. Very good service to be honest. I would recommend you ask for pics before ordering any bats. Delivery can sometimes take a week or more if they don't have the item in stock.

Send you lovely bats at 3-4ozs more than you order, then blame it on the Monsoon and you have to sell them on.

Never again.

Now then Shirley - remember what we talked about in our group sessions.

Think of ruler straight grains, the smell of the mower shed and of raising our bat to the old ladies in the pavilion upon completing another sumptuous century.

Banish all thoughts of burning down the groundsman's hut, of ripping open your shirt and screaming "Hulk smash puny humans!!", or of nicking off to 1st slip.

Go to the happy place with the fondant fancies.

I have bought lot of goods from OLS. They are very competitive when it comes to procuring quality asian products like SS, SF, SG & BDM. You can get quality batting gloves, pads, w/k pads, etc for a very competitive price. They always have something for people on budget.

For cricket bats - many would argue against buying from online retailers. I live in Southern california and my nearest retailer is ProCricShop - San Francisco which is about 1200 miles away. I have purchased goods only from online retailers till now ...

1. Hammer Vapen from Jason @ Cricketstoreonline.
2. Custom hunts county bat from Jake @ Vitas.
3. H4L HellFire G2 from Chris/Paul @ It's just cricket.
4. SS test opener batting pads, SS LE gloves & SS W/K gloves from OLS.
5. SS Master 9000 bats from OLS.
6. SS Maximus from Cricmart.
7. BAS Bow 20-20 gloves from Crowncricketer.

IMO, all the above retailers offer excellent customer service however the bat weight is definitely a topic of discussion. Vitas & IJC guys put the bat on the weighing scale and give you the exact weight. However OLS reads the weight of the label stuck on the bats. I can guarantee the weight on the label and the weight from the scale will not match. It usually has a 20 gram offset on either side. Ask OLS to put the bat on the scale and read the weight for you. OLS folks make quite bit of grammatical errors in email, watch out for that ... sometimes a missing full stop or comma can completely change the meaning ...  :D

Many people have the luxury of choosing the bat in person at a store. If you have that luxury stick to it. Nothing beats that luxury. If you are at a remote place devoid of cricket retailers then turn to online retailers ...

I bought TON Vertu and SS Master 7000 from OLS at lowest possible prices (even when compared to other online shops in India, ex: cricketershop.com). I asked for 2.11 Master 7000 but after removing all the stickers it is only 2.10 (not sure if my scale is wrong, I am actually happy as I don't think I could have managed 2.11 with my small hands). So, yeah definitely ask for pics of the bat on a scale!

Closest reliable retail shop (cricketstoreonline, USA) is 5 hours drive by car for me. So, I have to buy stuff from a online retailer and add to it the fact that I have yet to score runs consistently to justify buying a bat from retailers or independent bat makers from UK etc (meaning spending more money on high end/ custom bats). For a weekend warrior like me it makes sense to buy stuff from OLS.

With little bit of patience and 5-6 emails I am sure you will get what you want from OLS.

Cheers.

I recently got a Master 9000 - first time I bought anything from him. I was very specific about scale weight, and also exact pics - so no real surprises for me. Very good service if what you want is currently in stock.
