Shane watson retires from test match cricket
« on: September 06, 2015, 09:49:05 AM »

News just in that Shane Watson retires from test match cricket. Not entirely surprising but I still think he had a lot runs still left in him.

Back, hamstrings and calves are knackered by all accounts.  Difficult for an all rounder to keep going over five days with that at 34.

Botham was joking he was more flexible than him! Not worth the hassle for him to be honest. He's been well and truely found out in test cricket. In ODI/T20/IPL he still has a decent short term future without the constant stress on his body, and nearly as lucrative.

Yes, you are right!  In any case he has always seemed more comfortable as ODI player even during his purple patch in test matches when he was averaging 42 with the bat.

He's also struggling to get fit for the remaining one dayers.

Loved watching him bat when he was in his pomp, so good on the drive

Ended up just being an average joe with an attitude

Summed him up for me when he gave Taylor a send off. When you are obviously in a form slump yourself but still give send offs then you are an actual muppet.

He's a fan of dishing out rubbish like that. Thank god he's gone, now decent players might get a go!

Hampshire confirmed they have contacted Watson about a potential return in 2016, to play white ball cricket only.

Seems Shane Watson has been signed by SG

His T20 record warrants a sponsor. They go mad over him in the IPL so smart move by SG.
