hilariously, that's three England squads without a single Yorkshire player.

No Lees, Lyth, Balance, Leaning in the batting group.  No Matt Fisher in the pace bowling.

Hopefully this is a new trend and we have a full squad to pick from next year!

Seems Foakes has been picked for his keeping - Rory Burns is a better player by miles at Surrey.
really don't understand why he and Tom Curran don't feature.

Lees should have been on the Lions tour too, probably as Captain. bonkers he hasn't been selected.

Tom Curran is a good and honest county bowler, but top knot aside, nothing out of the ordinary.

Maybe England are thinking long term, and want to have a side with Stokes, Woakes and Foakes.

Sorry, I'll get my coat...  :-[

I sincerely hope that Anasari recovers in time for the tour, as I think it's a great opportunity for him.

Samit Patel called up to replace Ansari. Not so sure about that myself...

We could carry on Fattus's thread about a lack of spinners in this Country!  super talented guy Samit but we should be looking to the future

Bit of bad timing for Ansari really! Hell of a bad time to get an injury but he will (hopefully) get his chance!!

Samit has a batting average of 15 and a bit and a bowling average of nearly 65 in tests.
I suppose he is getting a free trip to the UAE to carry the drinks though...

He is only 30 to be fair.  Not sure hes the answer but we certainly shouldnt be discarding spinners at 30, Ajmal didnt start for Pakistan until 34 and he had a good career!

fair point but Patel has been in and around the England set up for more than 5 years, the guy is seriously talented but has never fully committed to what is required-that's well documented.
I hope he plays to be honest, but it's hard to see SP being long term.....this Ansari guy is very highly rated, they will get him in as soon as they can I would think-lots of praise being heaped on this young guy.

Ajmal is very different, let's be frank, he threw it up till his action was remodelled, not surprised he was successful even with a late start...

Yasir Shah got his breakthrough series at (I think) 30! In fairness Samit is rumoured to have done a lot of work on his bowling and to have improved bigtime this year, plus he covers a batting spot as well as third spinner
