Looking it it, people that I would consider pure spin-bowlers in a side, don't seem to be getting 4 day games this season -
Kerigan @ Lancs, Tredwell and Riley @ Kent, Patel @ Middx, Briggs @ Hants and probably a few more. As Rayner says in his article, most that are getting picked seem to be batting spinners, with a second string to their bow - as if they can't be picked purely for their spinning ability - Rashid, Borthwick, Rayner, Dawson, Anasari, Samit Patel are all examples.
Perhaps there is something on the way we schedule, prepare for and captain our 4 day games that is leading to the paucity of international quality, attacking spinners?
