I've picked up dozens of their bats and never liked the feel of any of them. Even with the 50% off Spartan sales here in Sydney back in March/April, I couldn't find one item I liked, and I'm a hopeless cricket gear badger.

Just my opinion. I'm sure a few of you gents have had a descent MC LE in fairness.
They have been ok, unfortunately most of other models are all the same shape.

I've never been a fan of Spartan either. I've never seen (in the flesh) a decent performing one, nor one with great looks for the grade. That said, there have been some good ones picked up by forum members in the past.

A lad I play with had a lovely MC1000 that he got in the PDC sale, it was a gun. Split up the middle of the blade from the toe after a couple of months. He had to resort to Twitter to get a refund!

Pdc are usually good on the returns thing. Was he trying to get money from pdc or direct from Spartan?

He sent it back and they weren't interested, kept saying the Spartan rep had to see it and make the decision. Think he then said it was one of those thins and there was nothing he could do! He would've settled for a replacement but after that took to Twitter to complain about the shocking customer service. He ended up with a refund and bought a Spartan Gayle bat from someone else

I'm not a fan of their stickers or naming scheme (as I hate gear with players names/signatures on it, feels so childish imo), however the Spartan Steels I've seen at the GCCC look fantastic for the price. Decent profile, 6 or 7 straight grains with no blemishes sold as grade 3 (AUD$225, for reference a NB TC560 is $250). If it weren't for the stickers, I'd consider an MC1000 or MC LE bat.

I've used MC LE's for the past few seasons of high grade cricket.

Found these to be exceptional bats, and the two that I have for this season are absolute beauties. The guys in my squad (that include current first class players, pros) think the pickups and profile on the MC LE are some of the best going around.

In saying that, the first MC LE i had a few seasons ago split across the grain from a yorker only a few months in - had this replaced as it was "storm damaged". The clefts are very soft, so if you bear that in mind in terms of the longevity of the bats, you go in knowing what to expect when playing with "players grade" bats.

Being an opening bat facing guys bowling 75+ every week probably doesn't help!

If I can find one I like I might go for one for next season.  Picked up a couple in the past and was impressed.  Price put me off however!
