I'm off to see James to get my bat made tomorrow. Taking a few bats to be refurbished as he did a batch for our club the other year and did a good job.

I'll see if I can post some pictures of his setup and some of the ready made bats he has on sale.

Won't get my finished article for a while obviously - any advice on what I should be looking for?

Trip to see James went well. Gone for something with a low middle and renegade profile (see image below from JEDi website), getting some different stickers as well as green wasn't to my liking. He's tidying up a few other bats for me as well. Good service.

Will post up some pictures of the finished articles when I have them.

Looks a good grade of bat for 144! Anything to share about Jedi's setup?

Massive bat! Zaramax stickers would look lovely on that shape.

Very garish mind. Gone for some custom stickers in my club colours.

Not for everyone but me being a 13 year old I would go for the vivid, flashy decals  :D

You get the best willow he has to offer with the Groupon deal, but he had some nice bats in all grades. Setup is just James in a workshop, doing everything himself by hand. Best thing he did was weight the bat I had been using last season (borrowed from a friend), which came in at 2lb15oz - a lot heavier than I thought. Gone for something a bit lighter and that definitely picks up better @ 2lb11oz

If you are local to Huddersfield and after something for next season (aren't we all?), I'd recommend going to see James and seeing what he has to offer.

James also said that he had such an influx of orders on the back of the Groupon deal that he's very busy and had to take the offer down for a while. It might be back though depending on how the current orders he has go...

Sounds like it's worked then if the plan was to generate sales and therefore awareness. If that bats are good it'll have been a pretty smart move if the buyers return and pay full price a few seasons down the line.

Pretty much! I'll make sure I get some pictures up when it's finished.

Went to JEDi this morning before a net and a one-to-one for my lad at Cricket Asylum.... basically, a very good day had by all. Fascinating tour, lovely fella James and he had some very decent looking sticks. Took a bat for a refurb, had the tour and discussed some specs on a new bat for me... Well, if I am not going to retire (again) I might as well have a new bat - such a super offer, custom made, top grade willow, handle specs, weight, grips, stickers - you name it - definitely a bespoke service. As mentioned, James might open up the offer again later in the winter... He can make whatever you want, a copy of a favourite bat, but the three shapes he offers were very nice indeed and would, I suggest, cater for most folks. I went for the Abalest shape, picked up like a wand.

Will post some picks when it and the refurb arrives, probably back end of November. Sad that an old man is looking forward to receiving both!

JEDi certainly meets Paul at IJC's criteria for what bats he stocks - and then some.... Well done to those that went for the Groupon offer whilst it was there, a belting deal.

He told me today that Alf is still alive &  kicking and last time James went to choose/collect some willow, he took Alf with him and he loved it. A very good mate of mine used to use an ACE bat - Bobby Denning, now of the LCB.
