For me the failure of the umpires to hurry Pakistan to bowl there overs  was disappointing one over from Raiz took eight minutes also allowing  Pakistan to bowl just  11 overs in the one hour available is unacceptable.

Poms crying about time wasting when you forget your boys did the same in Cardiff 2009...Get off your high horses.

Seem to recall Austrialia doing the same  at the Oval in 2013 to deny England a FOUR - NIL Ashes win.

A professional test team should be able to bowl 18-19 overs per hour, any less and they are messing about or the batsmen are messing about (simply no need to drink or change gloves unless it's drinks).

Stamp it out the game and then fans will get full value for their cash, teams will have to earn their win/lose/draw. I do not blame any team for time wasting under th current rules as the umpires are so weak and they need to be far tougher.

Keep dreaming off ever beating Australia 4-0 in the Ashes as it will never happen.

But you enjoy the multiple time Australia have humped England 5-0

Cricket really doesn't help itself with the light rules, some common sense is clearly needed when you're going off for bad light every day of a test match. Never mind the result, it spoils the spectacle. Timewasting is less of a problem, and actually sometimes adds a little drama, but some rules against it would probably be a good idea! Or we'll continue with every team doing it when they're fighting for a draw.

I don't blame Pakistan at all. Any other team would of done the same thing. I think the umpires and icc really need to do something about over rate.

There is no reason at all they can't bowl 90 overs in a day.

The said troll obviously has a major issue with the English! I can't work out whether the troll was bullied when he was a very young school boy by an English boy who used to flush his head down the toilet and kick him up the backside daily. Or whether the troll had an English boyfriend that he loved and adored, but that boyfriend left him for someone else?
Very sad whichever.....but it doesn't make the troll any less annoying! My sympathy for a sad case like he is only runs so deep!

England set the tone in the first hour of the match with a turgid over rate and zero energy... bit rich to bleat five days later

All teams do it at all times. As has been said it's something that the ICC should've sorted before now to be honest. I reckon only about 1/4 times the 12th man comes on is for a genuine reason, so for me like a 4th official in football, an official should be on the boundary to determine if the 12th man can go on, avoiding cases like yesterday with the Pak 12th man getting to the wicket for the ump to send him straight back. By going on the pitch he's still done his job, stopping him stepping over the boundary rope will reduce some time wasting. That and they need to actually be strict with over rates, I don't think I have actually seen a team get penalized runs for it, despite the rate rarely being achieved.

these are all controversy causing proposals.. imagine if umpires penalize team X in one game, but team Y in another game is let off the hook for "genuine" reasons to take time.. why not just eliminate the time constraint of daylight....pink ball tests!!

slightly off topic but who currently holds the ashes??

and yeah england can feel hard done by but should we be celebrating the fact england started a tour well and nearly forced a result on dead wicket with two spinners most of us had written off during the first innnings?
