To be fair you could bat without gloves on that pitch given the lack of chance of it getting that high.

The gloves Malik was wearing looked like they cost £5 and were for youth...
Didn't look to offer much protection at all, almost like bottom of the range softs, having said that didn't stop him massacring our bowling #ouch

He was wearing SG gloves, not CA

Shoaib Malik seem to prefer lower end gloves, probably due to better fit as they are less bulky.

This is a road though, and 2 days 1 hr in hasn't made great viewing.

BORED!!

Bet carberry, Robison, and lyth would have all loved a go on this wicket while in there England shirts!

It's only boring tbh because both sides have poor bowling attacks. Stick a Swann/Ajmal quality spinner on here and I'd bet they'd make something happen. It's a good test of concentration and fitness which is just as much part of test cricket as wham bang all over inn 3 days slog fests

Yeah I'm not bored of England being 109-0 down at all, makes a change for once

Don't get me wrong, I don't overly enjoy batting wickets like this, nothing worse than 500+ plays 500+ like India usually have but it makes a change from what was practically one day cricket we saw in the ashes.

109 for 0 on a wicket that gives equal fight between bat and ball. Yes please.

109 for 0 on a wicket offering nothing to either bowling attack. Is not interesting what so ever.
No test of a batsmens cricketing ability.
Only test here is the heat, what will run out first? The batsmens patience or there energy.

Concentration wasn't up to scratch. That's a few lapses by both cook and Ali and mo finds his edge and is gone. Good test cricket, not as easy to bat long and stay disciplined against disciplined bowling as it is to just go out wafting

A few balls have moved, just not getting it all the time or every ball hence the discipline needed by bowler and batsmen. Bell needs a score desperately

At the end of the day, the great Australian side have made people expect 4+ an over in any condition in tests when actually, that's pretty much one day mode. I suppose it depends if you enjoy test cricket or just want to see a two innings odi played.

Sounds as though the wicket is starting to come to life...........unfortunately!
Would have been nice if it had of stayed flat long enough for England to get in a safe position.
Will be interesting to see what happens from here  ???
