You can't blame Rashid, he lasted 170odd balls at number 8, he shouldn't have been in that situation in the first place!

Not seen the dismissal but I would point the finger at the first innings collapse and those who could of done better in the second innings. It obviously wasn't easy but when numbers 8-11 set a world record for balls faced, it can't of been that tricky either.

Both am just made a decent point (for a change), when asked about the ending he said they should look at the shot choices in England's first innings before criticising rashid. Still not sure what he was thinking, but he batted for nearly 4 hours it was one hell of an effort

Piece of piss when your sat on your (No Swearing Please), whole different ball game when you've batted for hours on a 5th day wicket against a pretty decent attack, plenty of lads in England shirts you can have a go at over this innings, but I'd say Rashid was pretty low down the list.

Not really having a go and certainly not sayings it's easy out there!!! Any of us would have lasted about 3 balls. but why suddenly change what you've been doing for the last 15 overs when you can see the finish line. All I'm saying is he'll have learnt a lot about his own temperament from this, because he's clearly not a deep thinker as his bowling often demonstrates! Never seen anyone who can bowl a googly so well and have absolutely no idea when best to use it. Cracking effort, I think he'll be so furious with himself and probably won't be able to explain why he even did it. Live and learn.

Can't blame rashid as it looked a tired shot

He batted as long as anyone else in the line plus bowled his overs

Just as in club cricket if you leave it to 9 10 jack don't complain as batsmen have to take responsibility

Rashid, what a cock!

So he grafts to try and save a test, then has a rush of something to the head and throws all his hard work, along with the game, away.
Say what you like about not blaming him, or the batsman should've done better, he was the man in the middle and he's the one who threw his wicket away needlessly

By the sounds of things, you guys criticising Rashid would have done a better job? Just remember why he's there representing his country, and your not

Harsh... 2 ft either side of the fielder and he would have been fine. attacking shots when you are surrounded by the fielding team has got to be a vlid source of releasing pressure and should offer no more risk then trying to knock it down.

It was a great effort but his shot was not why we lost the game.

Runs in 2nd Test:
Cook 75
Ali 2  ???
Bell 50
Root 159
Bairstow 68
Stokes 17
Buttler 7
Rashid 61
Broad 45 (1 Not Out)
Woods 30
Anderson 4 (1 Not Out)

So from this, Stokes hasn't batted well - plus he only took 1 wicket of Malik in the first innings so needs to show some improvement in both disciplines!
Buttler 7 in both innings - and didn't someone say that he dropped a couple, and wasn't keeping particularly well (drop in confidence possibly?)
Plus we know that Ali is more comfortable batting down the order, and his 2 runs in 2 innings batting at number 2 kind out shows this!!  :(
So as we have already said, they really must give Buttler a rest and drop Ali down! Then get Hales in at 2!

And as has already been said, Rashid played a rash shot and should have known better!!
But need to look at others who are not performing! Buttler and Stokes are doing badly.
And indeed we need to look at the selectors for not playing the right people!

I do hope the team rally around him afterwards now and let him know it wasn't his fault, he needs confidence to do his job as a leggie,  but having said that hope he remembers he got out to an unnecessary swipe in both innings. you can't escape that fact!

I'm not a paid professional, I've never scored a first class hundred, and I'm certain I'll never plays a test match.
That said, when it's my job to block and survive, then I have next to no backlift and play either a block or a leave to everything...
Play the situation and all...

Buttler trashed Stokes bowling figures by not going for a relatively straightforward catch. Then Stokes got smacked for another 4 the following ball. Not easy to keep out there but you have to take your chances!

I'm guessing you only watched the last ball of the game, or are you just ignoring the rest of Rashid's innings?
