Apart from this test the fielding has been fine. Cant wait to see what Ansari can do

Get to stumps withoiut losing a wicket, with Ali playing with some intent, we could be in a very strong position heading into tmro. I think this is the way he needs to play (Ali) i quick fire 50+ could break the back of this chase,

as im writing this hes just been given out, forgot all i said

Just highlights how dreadful England's spinners bowled. Nearly a chance an over with their spinners

Going back to the spin conundrum - think Zafar Ansari is certainly better than these..BUT, how about a little gamble with Panesar. Tell him he's going to India - work with him intensely, and then just throw him in the middle.

Gotta see if any county is actually going to take him on for next season first I guess. Surely one of the smaller counties must consider it worth the risk?

Panay on earth made you think Ali can a) survive b) score more than 20 runs c) even look like a top six batsmen

I really don't get why people are obsessed with Ali and his batting

Perhaps that is why it hasn't worked so far. Surely its a bit like riding a bike - you never really forget how to bowl well. Its a mental thing more than anything else. Leapfrog the counties, motivate him by giving him the Eng shirt, and give him a test!

Personally, although Monty is proabably (on his day) far better than rashid, moeen and Co hes now 33 or something and think we should start bringing up the youth spinners Eg. Mason Crane. Although obviously would be a baptism of fire but would be good for the long term prospects of england

Not a great start, ball kept low a tad, but as they say in amateur cricket "get forwardddddddddd!"

I highly rate root, so not saying anything bad. But does the pressure of being no1 get to him? In the summer ashes, he failed twice in the test after being made number one, but returned to the runs once smith returned to the top.
Same here.
