Indoor Cricket Kit
« on: October 07, 2015, 06:35:53 PM »

I have been asked to play indoor cricket this winter and was wondering what kit people use? Do you use your normal match day kit or do you change it?  I have in my head that my kit will get abused more than normal but have no reason or experience to base this on!

Lighter plastic balls are used andyoull want to sink the ball into gaps and run rather than try and smash everything into the next county.
I used to use my normal match bat when I played, or I'd use a newer stick (e.g next seasons match bat) as the lighter ball had no seam and I saw it as a more fun way to knock it in a bit.

You will definitely need a full set of specific indoor kit, separate from your normal match kit or your practice kit.

No question, it will really help.

This is the answer I was after! Another reason for me to buy more kit....

You need kit for every day of the week to ensure you have it covered!

Lighter plastic balls are used
Depends entirely on the league, I've played indoor cricket with about 4 different types of ball, most of which have been lighter cricket balls with seams. If it is the plastic Readers hockey ball ones, use an old or cheap bat!

I play a fair bit of indoor, tend to use a light bat is the major change. Pads depends on the ball, I wear full kit for the one league I play in that uses the Readers, no lid/thigh pads and sometimes no pads for the proper indoor ball leagues. One lad from my club bats in the Newbery fielding pads and says that works well for him.

Agree wouldn't use my match day kit and I certainly wouldn't use my match bat to wack plastic balls.

I use a 2.10 ca for indoor cricket, lighter bat as its only 18yards.

I wear gloves merely as batting doesn't feel right without them, try to buy a light set of splits.

No pads and no box. Ball be plastic.

our indoor league states you must wear proper kit including pads to both keep and bat. I certainly wouldnt go boxless, plastic or no plastic it'll hurt regardless.
I wont wear my match day gear or bat, usually net pads and gloves and a lighter older bat

I've played indoor cricket twice a week for the last 9 years, and I've always just used my current bat/batting gloves. The indoor cricket we play doesn't allow padding etc, the gloves are actually more so you don't lose grip on the bat more than anything. A lot of people use either the provided woolen gloves or specially made indoor gloves, but I personally just use my regular outdoor gloves, the bat feels so much nicer in my hands and I feel way more in control of shots. As for bat weight, most people tend to use a lighter bat, but also stick to your own strengths and what feels comfortable for you. I tend to just naturally like a heavier bat than most indoor bats, so I use my regular 2'10,2'11 bat and it works fine. The other night I even used an over 3' bat (haven't weighed, but 50mm edges) and it worked fine for me, depends on your game and your approach during your batting innings.

Also we use softer yellow balls with a seam, not hockey balls never heard of that before, sounds scary to be fielding.
