Old Stick and New Stick Comparison
« on: October 24, 2015, 09:36:57 PM »

Just an interesting comparison, in terms of looks, between my two current bats I use.

One is an SS Maximus, weighs 2.9 - bought from Cricmart
The other is a Piri Piri Naga Jolokia, weighs 2.14/15 - got from the company owner who plays at my club

(That's the inside edge with all the cherries on btw!)

The PiriPiri is hands down the best bat I've ever owned, goes like the clappers from nigh on anywhere you hit it and has lasted a good 4 seasons with no damage to it (agreed it could do with a good touch up but I'm clueless at it). It's an incredibly dense piece of willow and feels a real solid piece of equipment. My only slight drawback is the pick up is a tad on the heavy side but it's never really bothered me unless I'm hungover.

The SS is a very recent addition and I'm still in the process of knocking it in but the response from the mallet is v positive so fs and Im looking forward to getting it in the nets. The pick up feels immense.

Guess the interesting comparison comes from the difference in the size of the bats despite one being considerably lighter, goes to show the variations there are in making a bat I guess!
