In all honesty, when I discussed the specs I thought it was optimistic on my part to ask for a huge edge with a decent spine. Expected a fair amount of concaving or a compromise in the dimensions. It has blown me away.

He does make a very nice bat - but that's exceptional - interesting to hear how you get on with an ssh harrow length blade - I've been toying with miniaturising more of my kit!

That's a very nice looking monster for G3. Any specific reasons for going down the size other than getting a big bag?

I think a full size SH would be easily 4-5 oz heavier than current weight.

Well I'm 5'7 so a harrow feels quite nice in the hands, sometimes a SH can feel a little long. With the handle, I find my hands tend to slide up the handle with SH and I'm hoping an SSH will keep them in the middle. I don't have big hands anyway so SSH is fine. I think those 2 tweaks are probably 2oz off the weight max.

Whaaaaat?! That looks fantastic, be very interested to hear if John has more clefts capable of reproducing this! How much shorter is a harrow blade, I thought they were the same length? I was contemplating trying to get something similar made with a handle making it up to normal length, this might just have swayed me...

It was an exceptional cleft considering its size. The dimensions are pretty much on the limit once pressed but able to get it to work. The reduction in size helps but as Nick said it would have been a max of 2oz really in this cleft.

I may have some others(would need to check). I know I have a couple of lightish clefts but unsure if they have the size to meet this. I may struggle to keep these dimensions but a few minor tweaks in terms of size or some very minor concaving would help.

If anyone has any specific weights they would want something like this made in then please let me know and I'll have a check of the clefts. I may not be able to replicate exactly depending on weight but can tweak the shape to suit the weight and size of bat. This in 2.8 may need a few mm off the edges and spine or maybe a touch of concaving to make it worth but would still be a pretty big bat.

Just emailed through my specs. I would of popped down had there been any tricky decisions to make on the weight but as you can see there wasn't

Did a bit of tapping up and it's got a nice deep sound to it. As you would expect, seems a nice wide and long middle. Only really the last couple of cm of the toe and just under the stickers that don't respond much. That may change once I have knocked it in fully. Pickup wise it feels its weight but that's ok as it looks much bigger. Instinctively you think it has to weigh more. Handle is nice and comfortable, not to thin or fat (a couple of GM's I got feel slightly to thick in the handle).

For anyone who's interested I've put some pictures up on Twitter of the bat making process of nicks bat. There's also a short pressing video too. The creaking in the video is the edge of the cleft rubbing on the press bed when it's a bit damp. Doesn't cause any issues just creaks and squeaks a bit
