Winter Cricket North West Area
« on: November 24, 2015, 05:06:18 PM »

So I feel like how you'd expect a junkie to feel had he not had his fix since early September, albeit a cricket junkie.

Last year I survived the winter by attending adult coaching courses at the Indoor cricket centre Old Trafford but they aren't being run this year. I have seen an excellent coaching package with professional coaches due to start in January but that's at Headingley in Leeds which is just too far for me to travel every Thursday for 10 weeks.

I don't think I can last until January 26th when my clubs winter netting begins so does anybody know of any opportunities to play any cricket in the North West? Nets, Indoor cricket, coaching... anything?? There is only so much Don Bradman cricket one can play on the PS4 (added for dramatic effect, truth is I returned Don Bradman cricket to Game after 1 session and traded it for Rory McIlroy Golf, It was rubbish, if it's not EA Sports it's not in the game!!!!)  >:(

Someone said something about a place in Ashton under Lyme near Manchester the other day. I don't know if they run courses though. I am also interested as my nets don't start until Feb.

I spend the weekends rocking back and forth in the corner appealing for lbw whilst wearing my lid to get a sense of cricket

Is there nothing going on at Barrington Sports? Thought they ran sessions every now and then, could be massively wrong though.

Not that I'm aware of, I've been to Barrington Sports, they don't have nets as far as I'm aware. They have a practice hockey net...
