GN Elite
« on: November 30, 2015, 02:51:04 AM »

Went into GCCC last Thursday to have a look around while on holidays. I had already been to the Albion store and pondered buying a cheaper bat for the simple reason of 'because I can' but I didn't. Left and did Christmas shopping for a while then went to the Underwood store with my missus this time (she definitely loved it haha).

I initially looked at the cheaper bats but then saw an F18 1500 they had and it reminded me of my current shape and felt so good that I was set on buying it. I just happened to grab a GN Elite LB to compare and I liked that even more. 2'7 and a slightly different shapes to the other elites they had as it had a noticeably higher middle. Best feeling LB bat I've felt and was really nice off the mallet and with a ball. There isn't much difference in terms of shape between the Ultimate and the Elite and even the Silver, so it must just be grade of timber. This was graded lower in my eyes due to half of it being heartwood, but that didn't faze me at all. I was set on the F18 initially, but this felt better and was $230 cheaper so was a no brainer.

So I basically went in just to have a look and walked out with a bat , gotta love that (I also got some GN Silver Gloves).

2lb7.8 oz's LB (with scuff sheet and shoe goo)
32-34mm edges
66-68mm spine
14 ish grains

Thats why I never go into a cricket store or car dealership just to browse. I've once walked away with a $700 bat and a brand new mazda sp25.

Nice bat. The elites are some of the best value bats going I reckon, considering its made in Australia.

Nice bat mate. I've looked at many a GN Elites, especially the light long blades but haven't managed to pull the trigger. That's a lovely example you've found. I'll be sure to check into the Underwood store next time!

Is the spine slightly off center or is it just the camera angle?

$465 isn't cheap, but compared to the prices they were asking for the others, this was a steal imo (and with the weak aussie dollar, ordering from the UK would be just as pricey). Easily the best bat I felt in their two shops. Usually Underwood doesn't get as much of the really good stuff, but Fraser is down there now so he would probably get a few of the good ones down now. Being made in Australia definitely got it over the line for me.

I like the shape a lot. Decent edges, but nice high spine to match :)

I'd say it's the camera angle as I haven't noticed it prior to you mentioning. I'll double check though.

Took it to the nets and my missus gave me some light throw downs (yes you read that correctly haha). Going to be a good stick.

As a GN whore (for now, at least) this makes me wish I lived in Australia.

Then I remember the spiders, snakes, scorpions, jellyfish, crocodile and sharks that can all kill you and I remember what a lovely place Englad really is  ;)

Beautiful looking bat, lovely shape and in a crazy light weight, hope it serves you well bud

Got 114 off 94 with my current bat today. Looks like this will have to wait a little longer haha.

It's a Helios Atlas in the Newbery GT shape @19reading87  Had it for a while and scored a lot of runs with it. Shame they don't sell the GT out here otherwise I'd buy one straight up as I love the shape and high middle

Who are you plating for these days Langer? I can't buy a run this season, getting a few poles but some runs would be nice! That elite is a good looking stick.

I been dying off the GN elite and ultimate, can't justify it with two bats already and barely a run all season. But I know the feeling of walking into GCCC. I went in for some new keeping inners and $600 later have new gloves, pants, shorts etc
