This is very sad, to see the once mighty WI team perform like this. Ignoring the Fabulous WI teams of the 1980+'s, pretty well any West Indies team since WW2 would give a far better account of itself. When playing resources are as thin as they currently seem to be in the Caribbean, it is criminal to be missing some of the best players. They should do whatever it takes to get their best players available for the big series - like this one.
A political shake-up to restore some pride and passion in the badge, along with a common sense of purpose (ie players, administrators and coaches all focussed on improved International results) would be good. However, there seems to have been a few shake-ups and rallying cries over the past decade or so, to no avail.

Does anyone have any new ideas?

Sack everyone who is a coach, manager, admin or anything to do with WI or the regional cricket and start again.

On Inside Cricket show a couple of nights ago, Lara made a comment along the lines of the problems start from the top and Haddin suggested that the ICC should put in indepenant management to look after the game there... Lara thought it was a reasonable suggestion.

You know you're an awful team when Shaun Marsh scores a decent ton against you.

All the seamers going for 5+ RPO

You mean like South Africa? ;)

But in all seriousness, he's looked like a completely different person since his recall.

The WI fielding has been despicable, Marsh whips it to the deep backwards square, the square leg fielder gives chase but Marlon Samuels at deep fine leg stands around with his hands in his pockets? So sad to see the WI falling so far.

200 for Adam Voges and 150 for Shaun Marsh ... delight to watch them reaping runs and pathetic to watch WI bowlers running around clueless.

WICB - are u watching this travesty ? Clive Lloyd - Set your ego aside and bring back the experienced players like Dwayne Bravo, Gayle etc ...

250 for Voges ... WI can officially bury their head in the beach and repent touring Australia ... Expecting 300+ from Voges ..

The highest 4th wicket partnership in tests is now held by Marsh and Voges. Oh dear.

This test series will be like watching Eng vs Bangladesh in Durham during may.

Not a test at all really.
Geez Buzz England aren't that bad i'm sure they would give Bangladesh a run for there money. ;)

I suppose the teams goals are bigger than individual Etc, but how poor the windies are, I thought they might have let vogues go to 300.

It's still only day two, windies are 6 down and 400 behind. They had plenty of time!

Only Bravo managed to put up a decent attack against Aus. Now second innings and they are already 4 down for just 25 runs ! Bravo is also gone ... Definitely an innings defeat is on cards here

58-5 just embarrassing! I'm sure West Indies tail averages more than the top order, the likes of roach and holder have got more runs than the top order.

Voges must be kicking himself if this test ends in 3/4 days. He could have got 400+. Reckon if it was Warner or smith himself he would not have declared.

I suppose we were all expecting this from West Indies, can't blame aus for smashing them. Just goes to show how good chanderpaul was! West Indies might have lost whilst he was playing but at least he made the score respectable.

Not a fan of the high backlift technique that the new generation is using. it might be useful if the pitch is really consistent but to counteract any seam/swing a lower backlift is better as you can move your feet easily.

Beg to differ. Ricky Ponting & Brian Lara used to have high backlift. If it worked for them then there is no reason why it shouldn't work for the new guys ... Any specific player you have in mind here ?

Actually WI was 34-5. There was no inclination to play the ball on merit. Top order batsman didn't show any determination to stick around in the crease and wait for runs ... Flashing hard at balls pitched outside off-stump and trying to hook anything above waist high. Again ... batsman in a hurry to score runs ...

Credit to Australia. Good batting, although i would have waited until Voges got his 300 or got out before declaration. Great bowling - WI batsman weren't given any freebies. As is it WI batsman weren't willing to frustrate the bowlers. Regular wickets meant a full spirited bowling approach ... All in all, job well done by Aussies.

Excellent to see Jimmy Pattinson bag a 5 wicket bag. Yes the Windies are hapless, but Pattinson has been a sick note for a while so it will help build his confidence.
