Haha! Yeah it could be the other way round,he played at somerset for quite a while
And he will of course have his bats made by an experienced bat maker as opposed to a lot of them sold to the masses(thats us!)

I doubt he has a usual maker, given that by all reports he's a nightmare to deal with, consistently comes up when discussing the pickiest/most awkward pros. My fave story is telling GN he liked a certain glove, but wanted pittard palms. They were made for him, he tried them and and said

NC: 'no they aren't right'
GN: 'whats wrong with them? what can we change?'
NC: 'they just aren't right'
GN: 'OK try these' *takes gloves round back, puts the same gloves in a different bag, returns and hands back to Compo*
NC: 'brilliant these are much better!'

Compton said that he likes a full profiled bat.
The stump cam view shows his M&H is rather concaved. I wonder how long it will be before he goes back to his preferred maker for his "usual" shape and just applies M&H stickers

Going back to this. GN said to me that he likes really small profiled, almost thin, traditional shaped bats.

So the 50mm edges in his M&H range will be right up his street then!  ;)

Its the 'Compdog', he does what he wants!  :D  ;) big, small, it doesn't matter to him, its free and can put the 1,000,000 requests in for the bat at each stage of its making! Must say though, in an age of varied deliveries from bowlers and a lot more bouncers in play that he decides to use a really old style masuri lid!

From what I have heard, he is a nightmare to make for. Apparently he wants his bats to look as wide as possible when in his stance.

A genuine Gray Nics compton bat.

A not so genuine Gray Nics compton bat.

What makes one genuine and one not?

The egde stamps!
The PowerSpot has stamps so was genuinely made by GN.

Look closely at the E41, the font on the edge 'stamp' isn't quite right and it's a sticker. This implies to me it was made by someone else

Correct from our resident bat nerd. That and the fact one was made at Robertsbridge and the other wasn't.

From the first day of play by Compton using his new M&H gear, the only marketing point that the brand found was that with all this gear he has managed to hit only his third  :o :o YES, HIS THIRD six in 20 international innings. It is definitely the bat making the difference there!  :D :D Big player with all the big shots now he's with a 'bigger' brand  ;)

Think he was still contractually obliged to use GN till the enf od 2015 but as he had been netting eith an MH for a while and found it better he just swapped the stickers
