Graeme Smith looking to resume International career
« on: December 08, 2015, 04:53:55 PM »

South African behemoth Graeme Smith is on the comeback trail. Given his record against England, he could be shoehorned back in ASAP after the lackluster performances by Elgar and van Zyl in the tecent series against India.

Does this mean he can captain Surrey again? Because that'd be nice.

SA have declined so quickly since smith and Kallis left. Both could still be playing, even if Kallis just batted

It's great that Smith wants to get back into cricket. I don't think he would make it into RSA national team. If i were in the selection committee of RSA i wouldn't be inclined to give him a chance. What is the purpose ? Replace Dean because Smith is available. What happens if Smith decides to retire again in a year or two. I would rather persist with the new guy or replace him with one of the newer members like Quinton de kock or Riley Rossou.

Personally i feel his retirement was ill-timed. He should have stuck around to play 2015 WC and then retired. There was no necessity to leave cricket at 33 and think about returning at 34/35 (not sure of his current age).

De cock and Riley are not test standard batsmen, both are one day players again. Neither is a saviour of SA batting

I think it is an attempt to troll KP and England ahead of the Eng tour. It is also an attempt to take the heat out of the poor performances of the SA team.

Think it's a poor decision to have the best batsman in the world keeping ! I fancy England to win test series

Just joking didnt he break Smith's hand twice? Personally i think you retire once.

Plenty of masters and 20/20 tournaments around now to keep building the nest eggs and give the public glimpses of your former brillance. Give the next generation a go and keep the retired players from destroying their good reputations.
