Great counter attack by Matthews and Siriwardana. Came together after some great Kiwi bowling pressure at 4/121 and prevented a total collapse. Cashing in now that the pitch has settled down a wee bit.

Hasn't really been any excessive swing so far and what was there hasn't kept up for that long..

Can't remember ever seeing the ball edge the stumps before!

I remember batting once, ball hit the stumps, didn't dislodge a bail, and flew for 4 byes... Made me chuckle

Just watched the highlights and a bit off topic but didn't anyone else notice siriwardana wearing a shrey helmet with a masuri stemguard?

Don't know whether this really shows it or not but it is definitely the masuri stem guard

Just shocked at how well it seems to fit on, the question is will it work the other way round with the shrey neck guard on a masuri? Especially given the price difference

Shrey stem guard actually feels more like a hardened plastic covered in cloth. However Masuri stem guard actually shows the real mesh structure. From the picture i am quite sure its a Masuri stem guard.

Went to bad with nz cruising at 50 for 0. Guptil looking imperious.

Woke up and there 60 behind and 1 wicket left.

1) is the doctored pitch costing them?? Aka lords for England vs aus.

And

2) why'd it take Sri lanke so long to use chimeara, quickest on show yet before lunch, 20 overs, he wasn't used once. Nice 5 for once they let him have a crack.
Nz could have been in a much worse condition had they let him have the new ball

That's the problem with green tops or pitches that spin square, it can make average bowlers into match winners and can easily backfire. Doesn't happen often though.

They were 80/0 and then 89/4. Ridiculous spell of short bowling and Guptill played a horrific shot to the spinner. Commentary said Chimera isn't trusted with the new pill as he can't land it on the seam.

Nz commentators having a field day over a fiver on the outfield!
That wide is worse than harmson's ashes one, he's bowled it from around the wicket and it's gone straight to second slip

Can't believe they were going full CH9 over some money on the pitch...

That wide from Boult was like one of mine.
