I'll have a gander. It grates me to say it but imho the Aussies have nailed the 20/20 format with the BBL . My best mates a Victorian so I'll be following the Stars.

Any idea how Botha has gone under the radar for chucking? His action seems to get worse and worse every season

I'm sure it was just his other delivery. Surprised it goes unnoticed in Australia. Another one of those chuckers who's always kept his elbow covered.

Andre Russell was bowling some heat earlier, looked a different gravy. If only the WI board could sort out this nonsense of their best players chasing T20 money and play for their countries.

I'm not the biggest T20 fan but I really enjoy the Big Bash! Probably the highest standard of franchise cricket played over 3-4 weeks. Will definitely catch a few games when I'm off work between Christmas and New Year. Cheering for the Strikers this year with Dizzy and Rash being involved with them!

Intersting to see Chris Gayle going out to bat. See below from Courier Mail.

The West Indian cool cat will be the man with the golden bat.

Manufacturers Spartan have made a gold-coloured weapon for party boy Gayle which will become the glittering broadsword of Australia’s Big Bash competition.

The world-first bat, with a gold colouring infused in the timber and sprayed all over the bat, will be flown to Brisbane for Gayle to use in Saturday night’s Melbourne Renegades’ clash against the Brisbane Heat at the Gabba.

“There is a light spray of a beautiful gold colour over the bat, it is something that cricket hasn’t seen before,’’ Spartan boss Kunal Sharma said.

“We went and asked the kids what they wanted to see and they said they wanted a colourful bat.
“So we thought, why don’t we make the bat more attractive.

“We have infused a gold colour in the timber wood of the bat and there is sheen of a gold spray over the bat.’’
This is how the “universeboss’’ warms up for matches. Picture: Source: Twitter

The flamboyant Gayle, who calls himself the “universeboss’’ on social media, tweeted a hint about his golden bat a fortnight before swaggering into Australia.

There were some initial plans to use real gold in the bat, which would have been reminiscent of the famous scenes of when Dennis Lillee used an aluminium bat in a 1979 Ashes Test in Perth.

However that plan was scuttled with Spartan quickly realising it would never be approved by cricket officials.

“There is no metal in the gold colouring we are using in the bat,’’ Sharma said.
Chris Gayle is set to rock BBL 05 with his golden bat.

“There are restrictions on what you can and can’t use in cricket bats. You can’t put metals into bat products because they can enhance strokeplay. This bat is fine because we haven’t changed the make-up of it.’’

On Thursday Cricket Australia indicated that as long as Gayle’s gold bat was wooden, there should be no problem with its legality.

“Cricket Australia would assume that all players are using equipment that complies with the Laws of Cricket and, if that’s case, there should be no issue,” CA Head of Cricket Operations Sean Cary said.

The flashy Gayle, a T20 gun for hire, seems particularly suited to becoming the Goldfinger of world cricket.

Hussey is now the batting consultant for Australia T20 WC campaign ... and this innings is a testament to why Mr Cricket is very popular in IPL.

The gold bat looks bit DIY to me, especially as it looks like they have even sprayed th grip gold. granted Gayles maybe a bit diff. to this one as its been signed.

He's an amazing short form batsman, doesn't slog, plays proper shots and looks for twos and threes rather than trying to hit every ball over the fence.

Something the Aus short form teams could learn a bit.
