Crown Pepsi and small edged Warner profile
« on: December 21, 2015, 10:36:30 AM »

Evening all, this is my first review for a while but being so impressed with my latest cache of bats, I wanted to share with fellow forumites. I was lucky enough a few months ago to get a Warner (big edge) profile made for me by Stuart at GN and was amazed with the ping off it! The only issues I had were that by the time I put two grips on a very thin handle as well as extra-tec to protect a pretty soft face, it ended up around 2.15 which was fine for the slow bowling I faced in winter cricket but as I started the summer season, the weight started playing havoc with my already dubious technique. That was sold off to a mate and I was on the hunt for a replacement.
When I saw that the lads from B3 had the Pepsi profile that I could tweak to my specs (very thick oval handle at a finished weight of 2.12), I was sold so placed my order and a week or so later, the beast in the pics below arrived in Crown willow. I could not believe the finish quality of the bat and it had that high pitched ping when tapping a ball up on it so I was pretty confident that it would go well. So far it has helped me rattle up 48 off 22, 48 off 35 and 69no off 40 opening the batting. The sheer size of this thing is incredible and it picks up a dream! None of my team mates can believe it is 2.12!
After seeing the quality of their bats firsthand and the pics of the small edge Warner profile, I emailed Streaky again to add to my collection. A couple of weeks later my bat arrived but unfortunately, the handle was round instead of oval. An email to Streaky later and it was sorted: he found someone here in Aust that wanted my bat and he set about making a replacement for me. The service is incredible! I've bought plenty of custom made bats over the last few years and must say that I haven't always been impressed with the service if there is a problem but not with B3! My stick arrived this afternoon and to say I'm happy is an understatement. The ping is up there with the Crown and the handle is slightly thicker and sits even better in the hand which probably improves the pick up even further.
I've had a few Lavers before so sent them some pics of the Warner profile and they set off to make me their interpretation of it (this was the bat on their FB page a couple of months ago) so wanted to include this bat in the pics as even though it's the heaviest out of the 3 bats, it picks up the lightest. The middle is fantastic but it's quite unusual in that it doesn't make the sound all of my other Lavers make: it's a dull thud rather than the higher pitch and outside the middle, it feels quite flat... Still a beautiful stick but I think it will be on eBay over Christmas in the B3 company.
Anyway, enough of my ramblings, please enjoy the pics and Merry Christmas!

yes, the edges especially are nicely knocked in... As the old saying goes, I paid for a whole bat, I might as well use it!  :D

yes, it went over the weekend to a new home. Sad to see it go but in this company, it wasn't going to get much of a run... Magnificent bat tho!

thats probably my only concern tbh... The Pepsi has already had a small crack on the toe which is what prompted me to order the small edge bat. Plenty of knocking in and fiberglass tape from the start I reckon may help.

Hi Amrit, yes I had to thin the herd a bit to help fund the new ones... Loving these B3's! And the service is the best I have ever experienced from a bat maker! How is the Scat going, mate?

That SCat has a one of the best balance and pings nicely but that big oval handle is a killing me. Being a bottom handed player (and I literally choke the handle) it gets a bit difficult with the handle, but the front foot drives are awesome. Thinking of passing it on but not fully convinced as they are not made anymore.

Let me know if you do want to sell it as I will probably buy it off you... For a substantial discount with it being used and all...  :D
It's the thick oval handle I have struggled to replicated since until B3.

Do you have any Affinity or H4l for swap  :)?
