Joe Root - record breaker
« on: December 22, 2015, 09:36:14 AM »

Interesting stats in this link, including one that says he has had 20 bats this year so would fit right in on this forum, although he gets all his free   :D

I think the most interesting stat on that page isn't that Pietersen had the second highest runs scored in a year, but that Collingwood was in third place!

The best thing about it is that he hasn't had a great year in tests tbh, not many match winning innings. Imagine how many he'd get in a year if he stopped getting out in the 70s!

Yep. His year in test was poor.

Shown By the icc rankings having him at no1 a few times.

Top English run scorer in all tests for 2015

Second highest runs scorer in all test of anyone in 2015

An average of 60 plus in tests for 2015

Such a poor year he's had........

Mate I didn't say he'd had a poor year, just saying he could and maybe should have got a lot more! Even says it himself in interviews.

Conversation rate in Test cricket wasn't as good as his overall run tally. 13 scores of 50 or more but only 3 100s

His conversion rate is poor but his consistency is incredible henwont go 2/3 tests with 100 runs then go get 300 in the next innings he seems to always hit a 50 but nownhebhas to concentrate on getting those scores and starting again and getting to his tons. He will have loads of hundreds by the time he retires.

Root equals Sehwag's record of 13 50 plus scores however Sehwag hit 5 centuries to Root's 3

Exactly, he's got a lot of runs but hasn't converted 50s into tons as much as a player of his class should. If he cracks that problem then watch out!

Sometimes it's loss of concentration or over confidence once you have reach a milestone but at the top level that's hard to believe unless you get an unplayable ball once you get to 20  runs at any level  of playing  you have done the hard work and should go on to get a score.

Interesting, is that just the angle or a slight change of shape.
