TBH, for a thread to make it past 15 pages on CBF without the pitchforks coming out or dissolving into petty point scoring is pretty good going.

sssshhhhhhhhhhh. you will get us detention. lol. please

Not a chance, sorry!  I'm just more patient than most, I'm waiting until the end of Feb.  Got a 2 stripe that pings like crazy, happy for another one of those!

Hi Chaps,

I have read all this thread and would like to thank everyone for there comments and views, as I have said on numerous occasions we are always looking at ways to improve, what we provide, what we do and how we do it. I often ask myself the following questions;

Are we Good enough - my answer is YES
Can we be better/Improve - my answer is always YES
How can we improve - obviously that isnt a one word answer most times and depends on the questions asked.

If anyone answered No to the "can we Improve" question - I would suggest that they are extremely arrogant or stupid- both of which would not help in creating / driving a business through growth.

I mean this sincerly that all comments have been read / considered and actioned where appropriate - what I dont understand is people jumping on the bandwagon and I do question there motives, but that does not have a place on this thread, or any other - that is for each individual to read the comments and hopefully read between the lines.

The main issue has been on grading and something that I have thought alot about and had numerous, oftern heated debates with Dave about.

The problem with any grading and no matter where you draw the line is that there will always be a cleft that is just a grade 1 or a grade 2 that is very nearly a grade 1. We have set grading guidlelines and this is how we initially grade. We also grade on performance after the bat is made - bats can only be down graded at this point- so if a bat looks like a grade 1 but doesnt quite play as one, we will make it a grade 2, but important to note not the other way round.

I think the only way around this would be to have two grade 1 grades (the crown which is on density alone would make that three). So have a standard grade 1, that has 6- 9 grains with blemishes outside the playing area and a grade 1+ (not crown) that has 9+ grains with no blemishes on the face.

This is very much my initial thoughts but the only way I can think of to prevent the comments on this thread.

I always disagree with the Grade 1 and Grade 1 + rubbish - at the end of the day, it's either a Grade 1 cleft or it isn't and I personally think your grading is spot on so you should stick with it as is. Like you say, there will always be better looking (and worse looking) clefts in every grade so there has to be a line drawn in the sand somewhere.

I think this sums it up pretty well.

As I have said numerous times on this thread

If people assume they will get 10 straight grains no blemishes etc and don't specify that in initial order how can you complain?

I have seen some crap g1 bats and fantastic g1 bats but every maker has there own grading scale

If B3 stated you can't pick cleft you take your chance

Vishwas  if you can wait till Saturday I show you a bat just been designed by a American gentleman which is a bit like Chris Lynn bat it may be a tad shorter in the blade but has the bigger toe and bottom I have ever seen on a bat and maybe perfect for what you mention

I was truly amazed at the profile and I'm down on Saturday doing some work pal I try get pictures tomorrow though

looking forward to it. Wonder how the pick up would be?

Here is my 3 stripe from the B3 Promo. 2.9 Gaz Cross profile with a slightly higher and very long middle. 39mm edge. Pick up is superb with a lovely thick oval handle. 7 dead straight and even grains on a completely blemish free white sapwood blade so certainly grade 1. Little bit of concaving and gone for the purple stickers white grip combo.
Payed to have knocked in and this is a serious gun. First time I have bought a bat blind in a while and very happy. Will need to have a little clear out to fit this baby in the reckoning for this season.
One thing I will see is that B3 have certainly come along in last couple of years. The pressing and finishing on this 3 stripe is better than my crown bat I had a couple of years ago. Very pleased and for £200 posted and knocked in not too bad at all.
