Customs?
« on: January 04, 2016, 06:52:48 PM »

Having just been stung by HMRC for tax and duty on a signed Michael Jordan basketball (£££) I'd like to avoid the same thing happening if I bought a Laver and Wood. So my question is; has anyone been stung for a few extra quid when getting bats sent over from NZ?

Aren't Laver & Woods bats supposed to include shipping and customs charges in the price you pay for them? I thought they had some sort of a system setup!!

I've had three Lavers and was only stung once. My advice would be not to get it delivered to a business address.

Inthink they tried a few methods, one was to a distributor London way I think and the last bat I had off them that used a different method again to avoid charges but I got charged around £25 but Laver reimbursed me that.

Wouldn't know. Cricket gear goes thru customs in Denmark since we don't have a chance to buy locally. Only time I tried it, was when they called my bat a paddle/oar..

On the serious note, something with gift, or a low cost declaration will keep you somewhat clear, but will leave you empty handed if knicked since the value is way underestimated.
