Problem Screwing in Spikes
« on: January 05, 2016, 02:22:23 PM »

I recently acquired a pair of 2014 adidas spikes from Pro Direct and I've managed to screw all but one spike into the boots. It is just not budging at all. I suspect the actual screw part may not quite be long enough to get past the sole to screw, but has anyone got any tips I could try to get it in? I should be okay without it if it needs be, but for neatness I'd like it in.

Cheers in advance.

Adidas 2014 spikes were riddled with problems. They actually re-issued correct sized spikes for certain models. This was fine for retailers who had sold online, we simply forwarded the pack of spikes out to customers as we still had a record of them, it was a bit more problematic for customers who had purchased in store though.

It was the solar blue ones mate, but the problem appears to have continued (albeit sporadically and at random) with batches of the red from last year and also some of this years red and blue ones too.

Hmm would you say chance it with some replacement spike and hope they fit?

Cant say to  be honest, have seen adidas shoes that have taken a replacement spike from a generic brand, others than will only take a certain type of spike (GN spike for example, but not GM, even though both types fit my Asics, Nike and team mates NB fine)

I'v also seen the odd pair that do not take any spike at all that i can source, and that includes the ones they came with AND the replacements sent to fix the issue.

Haha fair enough, think ive always had some good luck with slazenger spikes. The only thing ive never got on with is the little metal keys you're given to put them in! Luckily a forumite has suggested a different one so ill try that
