Hi All,
After a new helmet after the peak on mine cracked across the top

Just wondering what you all thought of all the various helmets on the market based on comfort, safety and value for money?

Yeah have looked at them before, never seem to fit my head right (big and weirdly shaped!) Even with those cushioned air lining inside

There not airlines anymore, there one size with different shaped pads made to fit.

Anyway. What's on the market. There all pretty new.

I've into worn an Ayrtek off what you can buy now so a onesided reply. It's lush. Love to.

I'm not sure many others will help either, unless there is a proper kit badger that happens to have owned and used all or atleast a few of the new ones.

Ayrtek - light weight and good visibility. Funky design may put some off. I hzve not tried a new standard Ayrtek so I am basing my opinions on my old Ayrtek premier and Adidas Raw.

Masuri - arguably the market leader. Heavy in the hands but fine on your bonce. Very adjustable fit and looks alright (it grows on you). Optional extra of a stem guards, these offer good coverage and go unnoticed when attavhed, but some are put off by the price.

Gray Nicolls - possibly the best value for money compliant helmets. Also one of the most classic looking. I have not tried one on for size but the lack of ventilation would concern me. No neck guard or titanium grille option currently available from GN

Gunn & Moore - I beleive these are fairly cheap, looks classic and have a romovable grille. Again not one I have personally tried so cannot judge properly. Neck guards are also available I think.

Shrey - classic "Masuri look" and passes the new standards. I've not seen any in the flesh but read on here build quality was not always 100%. Very light and the additional nexk protector appears to be good value compared to some competitors.

i would say to look at ayrtek. i have quite a large head and always found it hard to find a helmet that fits.

i currently own 3 ayrteks with one of their new ones on the way to make 4.

I think I can weigh in here. I recently bought a Shrey Armor helmet which is the cheapest in thier range. For me it was a toss up between the Masuri Series Club. I found that I preferred the cloth finish over the plastic and that price difference including the stem guards which as a uni student I found attractive. I think that the build quality isn't as good as the masuri but I think ultimately they're pretty good value for money, especially for a tail ender like me.

Please do be aware of the pitfalls with Shrey. We are not stocking them due to build quality issues. The plastic grille mounts connecting the grille to the shell are made of the same stuff as your average smoke alarm. I've seen plenty of shrey helmets recently that are cracked in this area straight out the box. Some to the point of impacting on the mounting of the grille and therefore the integrity of the entire helmet

We sent all ours back with same issue.

I definitely see that looking at mine, I suppose an advantage of the masuri is that the grille is essentially bolted to the halo system so shows the difference in build quality.

Masuri maybe a bit more expensive but IMO the build quality is great as is the protection; they also seem to have the dominant share of the market which probably also says something about them . Wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Masuri every day - I'll never buy anything else having switched from an old style Masuri and used an Ayrtek and then an Albion within a season. I couldn't settle on either so bought a VS Elite.

They're worth the money with the comfort and build quality. The VS Test Steel comes in at �70-80 which, considering all the latest improvements and current safety standards that it meets, is very good value.
