Impala Giant
« on: January 14, 2016, 02:57:04 AM »

Picked this up from Deals Direct over here while they were having a sale and cost me AU$60 down from $299. Add said Grade 3 Willow made in India and that looks about right. I'm not sure how it performs as I'm at work, but it looks alright and feels alright for it's size. When I bought it I didn't factor in that 'Giant' would probably mean it's a bigger and heavier than most, but it's actually decent in the hand. Feels similar to my Affinity Carbine which is 2lb 11.5oz's but picks up more like 2lb 10oz to me. So I'll guess and say it's 2lb 10oz's with 42-43mm edges.

Will be a handy Net/Wet Weather bat or a bat I give to a mate who wants to get back into playing. Not a bad pick up for $60. Certainly wouldn't pay $300 for it based on looks/size/pick up, but it could perform awesomely, however I highly doubt it will.

One strange thing is that the grains run through the edge on both sides of the bat. Can't remember ever having seen that before.

Indeed it does look very similar to the Stunner i picked up the other day.

Excellent value for the money for sure.

Let us know how it hits up when you get a chance.

Which have you ordered?

They have sold out of most of the more expensive bats.

I wonder what the softs would be like?

I also got the giant bag. Restrained from the other stuff as didn't want strife from the missus.

Bat actually taps up pretty well out of the middle. Toe is a little dead and higher up vibrates a little, but not too bad at all. Middle is genuinely good. Good buy @$60

Wanted to buy another but sold out now. Ah well

To put the price in perspective, I emailed impala about stickers and they would cost $50 with the stickers and postage  :o. So bat for $60 but stickers for $50

For the price I am very happy and quite shocked. In my head I'm spewing I didn't order 2 like I wanted to originally, but I already have a few bats that I like so that would just add to the heap and hopefully this way someone else could score a bargain too.

Removed the Giant stickers on the edge and removed the back sticker with Robin's signature. Looks much classier now.

Exactly what I had in mind. Strip the stickers as you did.

I figured $10 for gloves, $10 for pads and $6 for a pair of GM pants was fair game. I'm perfectly happy to give them away to guys at my club if they don't suit me. At the very least, they'll be handy for wet weekends and winter cricket.

Great minds think alike ;) haha.

Yeah I got some gloves as well as I ordered an air mattress on special too so thought why not. If you order more than one item, you only seem to pay the same shipping as 1 item so that was handy. I thought along the same lines, worst case they will be good net gloves or I can lend/give them to mates.

Still strange that they were so cheap to me. The LH version of items all seemed to be more expensive than the RH equivalent as well.

I've ordered 2 things over the last week. First arrived The next day which was a big bag. The bat arrived 2 days later. Sent via Toll and it'll basically say sent, with the next update being when it is loaded for delivery.

Bat packaging didn't have a whole lot of padding, just some cardboard wrapped around with a thick bin liner kind of bag on the outside. Did the job though.
