Thought, as the feedback for others has been so good on here, I would put my videos up and see if you guys could give me any tips. This was at a net session on the Wirral with a lad that works with Lancs, working on playing out swingers. First video is with me stood on two, the next on off. Any feedback would be massively appreciated. This was back in December and was my first net in three months so was a little rusty!! Thanks guys.

The second video where you are batting on "off", you appear to be hitting potentially more run scoring shots but that could be down to the fact you've already faced 20-30 deliveries. However also in the second video you seem to be playing very much around the front pad which can be very productive but also make you a prime candidate for LBW. Perhaps the key is to start on middle-leg then as you get your eye in, move slightly further to the offside.

It looks as if your backlift is pointing to fine leg, you might want to see if you can point it to off stump or 1st slip. This will help you play leg side shots better without losing your off side shots.

I tried this last year and lost the ability to play straight and on the leg side completely, ended up playing everything inside out through wide mid off/cover. Moved back to a gully'ish backlift this year in nets and was able to hit straight from ball one.

I've noticed this pal, tried to rectify in a recent net. Definitely has had an effect on my ability to play straight. May go to the extreme the other way, see if that improves it. Cheers mate!!

Is batting on off really a viable option for people?  It doesn't seem to be a great option on early season tracks or, as Silvia seems to do, you play a bit round your front pad. 

Also, doesn't it make you vulnerable to the quick straight one?

Or am I missing something?

Fair point mate, I was just told to stand there as a way to combat the out swing. I reckon it does make you vulnerable to the one that does swing. That was in December after not playing for three months so I do apologise for the shots played haha

Never apologise to me of all people for shots played Silvia - I am the 'anti-batsman'.  It wasn't really a criticism, more of an observation, as I could see myself ending up right in front of all 3 playing a shot!

I always bat on off stump to the off spinner. Try to make sure the umpire knows 100% I'm on off as well. Helps the LBW to become less likely.

Is that only to an offspinner, so if there's a medium pacer on the other end you go back to middle or middle and leg/leg?

For me yeah. As soon as an offie comes on I'll take an off stump guard. Any other bowling type I'll take Middle & Leg.

Whether it works I don't know but I like to think it makes the umpire less likely to give me lbw.

This is interesting, personally I have no issue with the pick up over gully.

I always bat on off stump to the off spinner.

 I don't understand why this isn't what everyone does. Only players to stay leg side are biffers who need arm space. T forces them to bowl straight and so totally negating spin and is easy to pick off . Anything length and it's easily picked off too. Easy to drive straight and pick out where you want it.

I do it and it makes a huge difference, as I say.. The only people who need to stay on leg see people looking to just tonk it and need arms free or people who are kack off heir legs

When I watched Amla negate swann by doing that I adopted this approach too.
