That's absolutely awful. The Windies should be ashamed of themselves.

The worst thing about it for me was the West Indian's captains comments after the match  . He just put it down to the fact "its happened before" and therefore its fine to win this game by the same way. I fear my favourite sport is going the way of football... where winning is all that matters... even if it means you have to cheat..

Granted the WI where unlucky with a big edge on a caught behind that wasnt given but for me the action from the bowler was deliberate. He never intended to bowl that delivery, just try and run the non striker out.

Just sad to see and every credit to Paul Allott when he interviewed the captains...

I'd say it goes along the lines of the lombardi approach to sports where its do whatever it takes to win... Zimbabwe should have won in that final over plain and simple really, desperation does some strange things to people at times. The west indies should be ashamed, shocking cricket.

The opening for Zim was sawn off on 50 odd with a poor lbw decision. Umpires didn't cover themselves in glory.

I would dispute the bowler was bowling a legitimate delivery - they was no way he could get into a delivery stride and bowl a legitimate delivery when he did the mankad. Had the third umpire had the brains to check a previous delivery from another over he could of ruled the bowler was going to make no attempt to bowl and therefore the ball was dead.

Tim Robinson was the 3rd umpire. I too was disappointed he didnt call not out and start the over again... (dead ball?)

Also robbed the crowd of a tight finish to what was an exciting game that ebbed and flowed.

I'd say we've all read enough on here to realise winning is all people care about, most consider it the only way to describe if they've had a good weekend/match!! 'Yeah we thrashed them, great game'


As for cheating, where do you draw the line??

Sledging?
Bowlers appealing for lbws when they know it's not out
Fielders shying at the stumps when ey know ey won't affect a run out
Send offs
Fielders appealing when they have no idea if it's out

All is cheating really but people try and justify it as 'part of the game'..

Really disappointed in the manner of the west indies victory,The umpires had a shocker of a game and their poor decisions probably influenced the West Indies actions. Cricket is the biggest looser I think.

All 22 players are to blame, if all 22 played to the spirit and laws of the game the umpires would do wry very little as people would be giving themselves out nearly every time as you know when you've nicked it, or are plumb or are run out

I walked twice last year for lbw actually, in a league game because I knew I was out. Umpire was amazed but I knew it was out. If I nick it, I'm off before the umpire has a chance to say yes or no, again.. BecUse I know I'm out so why stand and wait.

He Might not have been to blame in that incident but if he stole inches when batting, appealed when he can't see, sledged etc then he has been culpable during the game

It was a legit dismissal, laws say so. Batters shouldn't be looking to steal yards. Get over it

If wi win then they deserve too and tbf, at least it offers some hope they might improve over the next ten years (not that u19 stuff means anything)

I have wanted to walk for an lbw before, but not known if it was the right thing to do. Fortunately, in the two seconds I was considering it, the umpire gave me out.
