Asad Rauf Banned for Corruption
« on: February 12, 2016, 10:51:32 AM »

So now it's the umpires too - I remember they dropped him from the Elite Panel pretty quickly a few years back. At least they're cracking down on it but it's still worrying to see elite umpires being found guilty.

Pakistani umpire banned by Indian board. Asad not at the hearing.
I would suggest that this may be as much a political/symbolic stitch up than anything truly meaningful.

Not much detail but why would he be banned by the Indian board and not the ICC ?

yes the IPL issue, looks like the BCCI is trying to deflect from the fact that the IPL is about as 'real' and 'genuine' as a daytime american soap opera by blaming individuals!!!

Considering there was evidence against him and he flew out of India in a hurry and declined to return to help with the investigation it's not all bcci being evil. ICC had said back in the day when he was first implicated that it's a bcci / ipl issue as this was a domestic tournament and an icc event

Not Pakistan, individuals. Don't paint the entire nation with the same brush. There are plenty of corrupt people in every country and walk of life.

Pakistan corrupting cricket again. Should exile them from cricket to make an example of them.

Agreed. Let's start with your backyard. Kiwis have been in the headlines lately. South Africans, too. Now IPL has had issues as well; so, Indians too. All of their batsmen have some amazing bats in their kits. I'd happily buy their bats, cheap!!! Ban them all, I say!!   :D

IPL is Pandora's box. Sreesanth, a few "unknown" players, Raina had "links" with bookies, some rumors of MD as well and now one of the umpires!!
