Cricket Force
« on: February 17, 2016, 05:55:14 PM »

Hi gents,
I'm in charge of my clubs first ever attempt at doing cricket force. I registered us a couple of months back, but haven't received anything from ECB about it but we're on the list of confirmed clubs.
Should I be expecting anything through the post?
Unfortunately we missed out on the Jewson Privilege Account so we're operating on a budget that's tighter than a nun's whatsit! I was just wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation and could offer any advice or tips on what they did, how they did it, how they funded it and how they got people involved.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks very much!

We did this is a club last year. Painted sidescreens fences and walls fixed broken seats(new woods) handy man jobs. Got all the juniors and parents involved to help a hand and had a few joiners etc to fix any broken equipment. Sorry was a little brief but hope it helps

we have been doing it for a few years now.

you wont receive anything until late February from the ECB.

quite often if you need paint or anything similar try just asking the local builders merchant anyway. some of the time they are kind enough to donate materials.

We do it yearly, get people to come and lend a hand is the easiest and fastest way to get things done. We are lucky that we have a few tradesman that play for us, so they can get lads organised an give instruction on the easiest way to get things done without cutting corners. We do it the morning of the Grand National, give helpers Bacon/Sausage Butties and unlimited tea&coffee. when jobs are complete its time for the National and £2 a pint for those that have lent a hand. The number of helpers has increased yearly as have bar profits.

Belter idea with the National!

All it is is a couple of dozen free t shirts in the post and discounts on things. I signed us up last year and it doesn't matter how many times I explain it to some of the other committee members, they are still confused by it.

For example, I sent the rest of the committee an email about the Jewson account back in January. Someone grabbed it an called for a committee meeting to discuss what we need it for. Committee meeting was set for the 24th of February. I explained that it would be too late to apply for it and suggested that I applied as at the end of the day its £50 for £250 worth of stuff that I'm sure we will use at some point. No no. We have to have a committee meeting about it. Now because of a double booking, the committee meeting has been push back to March. For a £50 expenditure. Which expired in January.

I am organising ours we have the  Jewson account if i can get enough club people interested i thought about asking the county to send somone but I won't if we only have low numbers prepared to turn out also thought about asking a few of my college cricket academy players past and present  who are with the counties to turn up if I can get the clubs  younger players interested.
