My Hell 4 Leather soft spot
« on: February 17, 2016, 08:56:51 PM »

Right then, my last review post following my trip to Matt's, and this will be a 3 way!

I have some of last seasons NV batting pads, along with a pair of NV Pro gloves and 2 pairs of NV Classic gloves.
I will post my thoughts on each, along with some pictures to prove they exist  ;)

NV batting pads
First up the Mums and Dads. These may be last seasons offerings, but they are some high quality kit.
These are a traditional looking pad, with the middle 3 bars being cane, the rest being high density foam.
I love the Devil logo on the front of the pads, and the H4L is noticeable without taking up too much space. The only thing I would personally change is the NV logo on the wings, but if that my only nit-pick I have nothing to worry about!
The materials are of a high quality, with the top hat being mostly cane. These pads are all leather and PVC, meaning they should last a long while (not a real CBF issue, but worth noting).
These are not the lightest pads in the world at 936g each, but the protection is top notch. Another big plus point for me is that all of the straps are padded.
Ironically, for non padded straps I have been crying out for companies to supply some kind of leather strap pad, exactly that has been provided with these! As the straps are so well padded I may remove these, but kudos to H4L for supplying them. These little extras really do show the H4L put a lot of thought into their products and want to look after their customers.

NV Classic batting gloves
Again last years offerings, but a pair of sausage finger gloves for £27.50 was a deal I simply couldn't turn down. These are not loudly coloured which put some off, but the classic white look means they go with any bats you may own. The devil logo is embossed on both the main protective section of the glove and the straps, with H4L also embossed on the main section.
Where on the pads I wasn't a big fan of the NV logo, it is subtlety placed on the gloves. It will be visible on the side of the gloves at the top and bottom of the handle when gripping the bat, but is subtlety placed and not in your face, these could be passed as just H4L gloves rather than NV gloves.

The sizing comes up slightly smaller than other brands, but I like a tight fitting glove so this suits me fine. The fingers are nicely curved to grip a bat and the protection is of a very high standard. I think these are a great pair of gloves, and are a definite bargain at their sale price.

NV Pro batting gloves
And lastly for this review, the NV Pro batting gloves. These were the cream of the crop from last seasons range.
I picked these up on eBay for £30 posted, and they are certainly a decent pair of gloves.

The sizing feels slightly larger than the Classics, and these are a split finger design. The logos and branding are exactly the same as on the classics, so these could again pass as H4L gloves rather than specific NVs.
These gloves have pittard palms and slightly more ventilation than the classics, but both gloves are excellent quality. The only change I would suggest would be to have a fully towel backed thumb on every pair of gloves for the sweaters out there, but this isn't a big issue, and if that is all I can think to comment on H4L are doing a lot right.

As a final thought, these softs are simply awesome quality that I would recommend to anyone. Having had a look at the 2016 range in person the new gear is on another level again, if you're thinking about buying do so now. The supply of softs wont stay around for long, as the quality will simply sell itself!

Another good review cam! I got the pads in navy last year for T20 cricket. You forget you've got them on, really comfortable! Waiting for a pair of sausage fingers with pittards to come in, they might have been in the boxes!

i used the pro gloves for the previous season and absolutely love them. tempted to get another pair but really dont need them

decided i prefer them over my salix pro gloves. also helps they match my bat.
