I need some help guys, I know it's been discussed on here before but do you think I can find it in the search feature(some days I hate the Internet).
Can someone explain how to work out the pick up index that I've seen used by some on here, I have a rough idea and I know it's pretty simple but I'm after confirmation, I'm being particularly stupid today, thanks.

Can't really believe there's such an exact science as pick up index. There's far too many variables starting with where you hold the bat, strength of the batsman etc... Seems like marketing bs to me

It's not an exact science just a guide I've seen used by some members on here.

Pickup Index is straightforward :-

Weight of the toe of the bat on a set of scales with the handle end propped on a rolling pin or something similar,  divided by the weight of the bat in total times 10.

Ie. 21oz in the toe / 42oz in bat weight = 0.5 x 10 = a PUI of 5

I don't think we have seen many bats below a PUI of 5.4 or above 6.3 from memory.

It's simply a way of putting a number on how a bat,  in general,  will pick up. Every individual is different so it's not an absolute guarantee.
