When you've got a missus you'll learn, showing them a worn/ripped pair of gloves give more than enough reason to buy a new pair(she may even get her purse out to pay), pads to match and bats as the last one was faulty.
Where as merely hoarding them while all shiny, leads to suspicioun, sneaking about and divorce!! Or even worse a stop on kit buying shenanigans. Noooooo
I had a missus who was clearly not up to standard. I don't think she even owned a purse (or she always "forgot to pick it up" when we went anywhere) so there was no chance she'd pay for anything, especially not cricket gear! It looks like getting rid of her was a wise move in hindsight, as the money I've saved by not having to take her places paid for my new Warbird
As for the comment about divorce, or worse a stop on kit buying shenanigans - I'm glad you have your priorities right
