why does Root's part time offies not get any consideration? he used to open the bowling for Yorkies in T20.

He hasn't sent down many overs since his back problems came to light

He could bowl instead of Chris Jordan then...

I think Jordan would have been happy with 18an over!!

I was a tad harsh on him, his 4 overs only went for 55.

i'm only asking for a couple in the first 6 overs, but yeah depends how he feels.

If he could chip in a couple overs then we could get away with playing Billings

Anyway, I'd be some what disheartened if I rocked up to a midweek game and the opposition had one on the very best batsmen in the world playing for them!! :(

Bet that's how oppositions feel right now with M Clarke playing grade cricket!

as a batter I really enjoyed it playing against a couple of pro's way back when I was younger, it's an education just watching a professional bat. It when you face a County bowler things get a bit scary!!

£10.00 match fee to bat in a coconut shy if they are genuine quick, or quick at our level I should say. Medium pace pro was quick enough for me to think about protecting myself first, any runs were a bonus

That league was hard when we was in there as most teams had 1 pro. Others had 2!

We got thrashed every week(bit like sith Africa vs England......).

Some times you have to watch in awe though, when we played the above side jaco castle was heard saying "don't hit sixes as we don't wanna lose lots of balls today"(batting side provide balls in our league).

When they need 30 to win he then said "I'm gonna finish it this over" and sure enough he did. Could pick where he wanted to hit sixes.

It's good fun against real pros (not mccu or one hit wonders , last years was nick trainor who actually I was disappointed with and Paul Murchell who was good fun to face, kept him out and score 3/4 an over off him without taking a risk. He was sharp but not scary sharp. I can see why he was pro though as he was accurate and moved it, plus I'd imagine with fitness every day he'd be a few mph quicker

Reckon they missed a chance to blood Dawson. Slow, low wickets in India and we'll need more spinning options. He's a better batter than Jordan and as good a fielder close in. Could also bat higher if they want to take some pressure off Root. Would give us someone else to bat around.

Think Vince is unlikely after man of series in UAE but they'll probably stick with Roy. Would like to see him replace Compton long term.

Delighted for Dawson. Played s bit of cricket against him when he was at Goatacre and Chippenham in Wiltshire. Always a top bloke. Always found Vince less hospitable though!
