Puma Batting Forever nets
« on: February 20, 2016, 08:24:36 PM »

Evening gents,

Does anyone have any experience with the Puma Batting Forever?

I'd be curious in getting something like this I can just go over to the park and bash around for a few hours when it gets warmer, but wondering if it's worth it. Currently club nets just involve batting for 10 minutes or so depending on numbers which for someone like me who's awful isn't particularly much time to learn/get better at it all.

I'm looking at the construction and wondering if you could just build your own sort of device on the cheap, essentially it's a pole with a u-bend at the top and then the rest are straight poles. Add some netting and a ball on a piece of string and you're set. Probably cheaper than the £160-180 RRP anyway...

If you have a garage a ball hung on a string from the ceiling does similar things.

Can to practice form and repetition.

I side arm and 1 mate is also a better way to get half an hour in your nets if you have them at your club.

Even a paceman bowling machine off 18 yards can't be much more expensive than this(auto feeder is obviously more and needed)

-I don't have a garage

-Again, we really don't get much time in the nets between us and so far we just go in, see what we can do and that's it. On Thursday I had a pretty awful net and have spent the last day or two just spewing over how bad it was. At least with such a thing I could work on it in my own time without relying on others...

- We have a bowling machine at the club, again this is more for home/personal use at the nearby park without having to rely on other people

That's probably were I can't help, my club is just as easy to get to as it is to get to a local park.

Theres bad, then there is  "i got out 4 times in the first 4 balls of this years winters nets" bad. I am unfortunately in the latter.
Plenty of time between now and the beginning of the season to get everything working correctly, especially when its suitable to net outside without hiring a hall.

Buy a swing ball.
If you don't like the tennis ball, drill a hole though an old ball and use that instead.

Has anyone actually tried this net system out?

Whilst not a new idea it does look quite nicely done.

I own one of these and it's very useful especially off season or when i want to get some practice on my own. It takes about 5 minutes to set it up and I usually set it up at our tennis court.

It's slightly expensive and it cost me close to GBP 75 for shipping alone to the USA.

In terms of usefulness, I find it better than using a song ball because of my space constraints. It's very compact and I am comfortably able to carry it in my trunk along with my kit all the times.

mobile auto-correction.

If it was not clear from the context, I meant swing ball...

From your posts over the last couple of hours I can't decide if you're:

  • Incredibly happy
  • Drunk
  • Under the influence of Class A

Or some combination of the above... ???

Not got a tree, or a garage, and my three yr olds attention span wouldn't warrant the expense or time of a coach
